favorite of all my cookbooks, this one gives ideas for lots of variations. try the savory puddings, watermelon cake, best baked beans I ever made.....vegetarians look beyond the meat recipes. family snippets are entertaining, too.

This is the cookbook for anyone who enjoys cooking and eating Soul food!!!! I originally borrowed the paperback from my father and almost didn't return it because the recipes and family history were awesome!!!! Every recipe I've tried has come out perfect and the book has inspired me to maybe publish a cookbook with recipes from my family and friends!!!!

I consider this cookbook absolutely essential for your cooking library. I have used it extensively for many years, always with great satisfaction. I have two copies and now I am purchasing one for my daughter Kim in college as her first official soulfood cookbook. The family history is beautiful and a rich additive to their documenting of food and life together.
