Editorial Reviews

Pietro Tonino
This is an introductory text for athletic training students. The book is designed to teach how to evaluate and treat common sports injuries. More importantly, it attempts to teach when to refer patients to subspecialists. This book is intended for student athletic trainers and may be useful for other allied health professionals. Most of the authors are credible authorities. It is heavily illustrated, which is important in a book that deals with these subjects. It is organized intelligently. This book does not deal in depth with most subjects because of the numerous areas discussed. Students will find it useful, but more experienced readers will find it to be too generalized.
Booknews
Focusing on specific joint kinematics, Anderson (athletic training, Bridgewater State College, MA), Hall (health and exercise sciences, U. of Delaware), and Martin (athletic training educational program, Middle Tennessee State U.), examine prevention, assessment, management, and rehabilitation of the most common conditions found in an athletic training environment. They cover common musculoskeletal injuries, as well as conditions such as respiratory illnesses, infectious diseases, blood pressure disorders, and diabetes. Annotation c.
