While this hardly supplants those originals, Spot the Difference is a fun spin for the devoted and a good advertisement for Squeeze's ...

Faithful renditions of old Squeeze numbers

This is really for fans that haven't heard all these songs before due to the fact that many of the original albums have long been out of print. If you already have every Squeeze album, then this is not at all essential, but then again, if you have every Squeeze album you'll likely want it for completest purposes. Also, to us longtime, long-suffering fans, this is a good taste of what the most recent lineup of the band sounds like on record, and a welcome return to the studio of the great Difford and Tilbrook team.

    What fun....

Listening to this CD is like spending time with an old friend reliving the same silly things you used to do together. Each song brought a smile to my face and the subtle differences remind me that while we have all grown a bit older, we still know how to sing along.

I find the reason for releasing the CD to be very tongue-in-cheek and I bet they had a blast recording it. I didn't mind spending the money for mature renditions from a couple of musical perfectionists!

This was just released to capture royalties.....

It appears that Glenn and Chris were not getting royalties on the old albums/CDs. How do you solve this problem? Re-record your old hits and release them on your new label thus capturing the royalties. That is the sole purpose of this CD. If you have the songs on other CDs, don't buy it. I am a big fan and I feel that they are taking advantage of their fans. Just another best of CD (one of many by Squeeze) with some VERY SLIGHT differences. On the other hand, I just purchased the Squeeze BBC sessions (import) from B & N and it is fantastic. I listen to it every day! They have three different versions of Tempted on it! One with Paul Carrack and the others with Glenn doing all the vocals.
