All Music Guide - Jared Johnson
Spring and Summer are the final two installments of Foreman's solo venture after a highly successful first decade leading modern rock wondergroup Switchfoot. Like Fall and Winter before them, they were released several months apart but later packaged together as a 12-track set. The heavy lyrical subjects on the first two seasonal EPs was swapped for more lightweight matter on Spring, which contrasted almost too sharply to make the entire set cohesive. But then again, that may have been the point. Time and time again, the stripped-down sets on Spring and Summer are polar opposites of Foreman's Switchfoot material, as he again varies the instrumentation, the song forms and ...

The heavy lyrical subjects on the first two seasonal EPs was swapped for more lightweight matter on Spring, which contrasted almost too sharply to make the entire set cohesive. But then again, that may have been the point. Time and time again, the stripped-down sets on Spring and Summer are polar opposites of Foreman's Switchfoot material, as he again varies the instrumentation, the song forms and meters (rhythms), the overall feel, and production (Foreman recorded the EPs in his living room). What emerges is a clear portrait of a man whose quest for ultimate meaning and direction in life is directed to God in imperfect ways. Summer is the most ebullient of the four EPs, and rightfully so as the title would suggest.

    The best ever!

Spring and summer was a lovely addition to my small jon foreman collection. I loved the raw edge of this ep as well as the fall and winter set and the sound was just incredible1!!! Hopefully jon will come out with some more solo stuff in the future; though i do like switchfoot, i love jon by himself more.

    Genius!

Originally released as two EPs, Spring and Summer are the last two installments to Foreman's 'Seasons' series of EPs. I am blown away at the accuracy with which he portrays the essence of the seasons. 'Spring' is upbeat and gives the feeling of new beginnings and the joy of the end of a cold Winter. Summer has the carefree feel that comes with school break and in contrast, the feel of a hot, lazy summer evening. Foreman's ability to craft the perfect lyrics never ceases to fill me with amazement &quot and, as a musician, envy.&quot He also has an encredible diversity when it comes to writing music and lyrics. Not only has he succeeded in producing four mellow/folk sounding EPs He has also been extremely successful as the front man for the Indie/Rock band Switchfoot. And on top of all that, he has recently begun an independant record company, under which he has released his newest CD's. I look forward to hearing what else Jon Foreman has in store, and will buy it as soon as I get the chance. Don't miss out on this quality music from a great artist. This CD is definatly worth the 5 star rating &quot as well as your time and $$.&quot
