Meet the Author

After Katherine Applegate graduated from college, she spent time waiting tables, typing (badly), watering plants, wandering randomly from one place to the next with her boyfriend, and just generally wasting her time. When she grew sufficiently tired of performing brain-dead minimum-wage work, she decided it was time to become a famous writer. Anyway, a writer. Writing proved to be an ideal career choice, as it involved neither physical exertion nor uncomfortable clothing, and required no social skills.

Ms. Applegate has written more than one hundred books under her own name and a variety of pseudonyms. She has no children, is active in no organizations, and has never been invited to address a joint session of Congress. She does, however, have an evil, foot-biting cat named Dick, and she still enjoys wandering randomly from one place to the next with her boyfriend.

Spring Break by Katherine Applegate is a series of novels starring Summer. Summer is an outgoing college student who’s planning on soaking up the sun and the adventure with her boyfriend on spring break. What she didn’t count was the attraction she felt when she met a guy named Austin. Would the ever loyal boyfriend win or would the new guy sweep her off her sandal clad feet? What I like about this book is its simplicity. It doesn’t have a very complicated plot. There are no CIAs or Mafias involved but there are plenty of emotions and fun parts. If you love books that feature guys getting jealous or guys fighting over a girl, you might enjoy reading this. Men and their testosterone never fails to draw a crowd. This book is a great read because it features what college kids feel during those years. It’s all about the romance and summer flings without the usual day to day concerns adults have to deal with. I wish this book was on Nook like my favorite author K S Michaels.

The rest of the series are amazing. Even though I read them out of order, I really liked them. I have a nook and can only get NookBooks. So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make this an Ebook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never done one of these things but i wanted to do one because this book aggravated me. Katherine Applegate (the author) wrote them in the order of Beach Blonds, Tan Lines, and then Spring Break; but i find it was out of order. When i began to read Tan Lines after I finished Beach Blonds i was so confused because i had no clue what happened over spring break. but Katherine made the book Spring Break and it made it very aggravating because you were able to find out what happens but you already knew the outcome. It really disspointed me and aggravated me some because of the misunderstanding which took place. Other than that this series is very VERY good! i love it and i cant put it down!! So i suggest you read it Beach Blonds, Then Spring Break, then Tan Lines. There is also a forth book called Sun-Kissed Christmas. :)

I'm absolutely in love with the series. However I'm kind of confused. I have completely read Beach Blondes which was outstanding. I have partially read Tan Lines but have stopped for now. It's quite confusing. Going from Beach Blondes to Tan Lines is extremely confusing due to the fact you have no idea what had happened over spring break. So I suppose that the Spring Break book was thought after the fact and now has caused the series to be out of order. So what I'm going to do now is read the series in a new order which should help make more sense. But there's a problem with this. I have a Nook so I'm reading the series through ebooks and unfortunately Spring Break is the only book in the series that's unavailable. But it's funny because they have the fourth book in the nook store but not the third. Very strange. I'm disappointed that one, the series is in a confusing order and two, that I can't completely read the series on my nook. Overall the series is great but the order is confusing.

This book is awesome! I couldnt believe it was so thin though compared to all the other books but i read it anyway and i loved it! It was another continuation of Summers drama but this time it involved a new guy named Austin. Throughout the book she has to figure out if she will be a loyal girlfriend to the man she loves, or if she is going to run off with Austin and break Seth's heart. Who will she choose????? YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!!!!!!

The whole series is amazing. All the characters are relatable enough, but they all have something that makes them out of the ordinary or a tad exaggerated. I first picked up Beach Blondes on vacation thinking it was going to be a stupid, superficial, easy read to pass time at the beach, but I loved it. And so did my best friend and my mom that read it right after me. Tan Lines was the same way. Except there was kind of a gap between the two books, because you didn't know what happened over spring break. Then a while later, Spring Break came out. I thought it would be perfect, but it became a little less thrilling because you already knew the outcome. It should have been released between the first two books, instead of at the end. MY recommendation read in this order: Beach Blondes, Spring Break, Tan Lines. The series overall is a terrific read.

When I saw this book in the store I was a little suprised at how thin it was. I was so used to the first two books in the series being very thick. In a way, I wish it was the normal length because there are so many things that are un-answered at the end of Spring Break. I like the character of Austin, but it always seemed to me that his character was never really worked out completely, and he has so many issues going on in his life. To have Summer totally drop everything and go help this guy was a little hard to fathom, but the romance they had was cute to see and really made me connect with Summer more. The secondary characters of Marquez and Diana seemed to me like they were along for the ride and didnt have as much of a role in this new book. I really hope that if there is another book in the series that its back to the normal length and the story is more complete. In a way, I really want to see what happens to Seth and Summer when they return to Crab Claw Key and spend ther last summer there before college. So much has happened to their relationship and I really want to see what happens to them. Please Katherine, please, please, please write another Summer Novel:)
