Overview

“Lovers of historical fiction could hardly do better than Diana Quincy’s Spy Fall,” proclaims Fresh Fiction. In this uniquely fresh and innovative Regency romance, a fearless French parachutist lands on top of a wicked rogue who endangers her mission—and her heart.

Mari Lamarre is gaining fame on both sides of the Channel for her daring aeronautic endeavors, but she hasn’t come to Dorset to showcase her talents. Rather, she’s been tasked with recovering sensitive information that may have fallen into the hands of the Marquess of Aldridge. It’s the riskiest adventure of her career—and it begins with a crash landing. Her fall is broken by the Marquess’s very own son, Cosmo, who’s clearly a rake and a drunk, not to mention a liability. So why does Mari find him so utterly alluring?

When he first spots the vision of loveliness in the sky, Lord Cosmo Dunsmore surmises he’s imbibed one drop too many, and an angel has come to fetch him. Little does he know that this female daredevil will make him feel more alive than ever before. But when their torrid affair takes a shocking turn, Cosmo must choose where his loyalties lie: with his respectable father—or with the captivating beauty whose fierce passion makes him feel like a new man.

Praise for Spy Fall

“There’s a gonzo style to this book that I just adore. Plus, I love the twist on the Regency romance. I’ve read an awful lot of Regency romances and I’ve yet to read one in which a pants-wearing female French spy parachutes onto a drunk duke who thinks she’s an angel. It takes ‘meet cute’ to a whole new level.”Smart Bitches, Trashy Books

This story was such a fun and exciting read! I loved all of the characters. There were moments of suspense, moments of hilarity and then above all moments of romance. Cosmo and Mari are the perfect compliments to each other, when one is serious the other brings them back in with humor or reflection. The family dynamics are so fascinating to watch unfold. I just couldn't have asked for more in this start of a new series.

I really liked this story! I liked that Mari was the spy and not Comso since so often it is the hero that is involved with the espionage. That put a nice twist as the story. I also loved that the secondary characters were so much of a part of the story. I think that gave the readers a much better understanding of Mari and Cosmo. The chemistry between Mari and Cosmo was red hot! They had an instant attraction to each other that they couldn't seem to deny no matter how hard they tried. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, A License to Wed, which comes out in July. Thanks go out to Random House Publishing Group via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

How Lord Cosmo Dunsmore and Mari Lamarre meet in a Dorset cornfield sets the tone for the story. She fell from the sky onto the inebriated lord. She's a French aeronaut and he is a rogue known for his profligate ways. What a pair! Beware! Neither is who they seem to be. She's a spy who is there investigating see his father to see if he's a traitor. Lord Cosmo is on to her. He's watching and waiting to stop her from destroying his father. I liked him. He's trying to reclaim his life after the death of his sister. There is one more story that I won't mention other than to say that it blew me away. I love both these characters. Their battle of wills and fierce attraction set the page on fire. The rugged English countryside is the perfect backdrop for this passionate story. Diana Quincy is an excellent author who had me hooked from the first page. I'm looking forward for more books by this author. I received a copy in exchange for an honest and unscripted review.

This is a wonderful historical read. Mari is a spy and is famous for her aeronautic endeavors and unfortunately on her mission to gather some sensitive information from the Marquess of Aldridge she accidently lands on his son. Cosmo is a rake but what is it about him that Mari finds so interesting. This is a fun and fresh historical read. I loved the characters as well has the plot, I was hooked from beginning to end. Loved it!

Cosmo is drunk again and lying in a field when he looks up to see an angel coming for him. It turns out that it isn't an angel, but Mari, who is a parachuting daredevil. Mari is trying to find a list that has her name on it and could get her killed. Running into Cosmo helped her cause, but she didn't count on having feelings for him. Cosmo has been drinking heavily since his sister's death and his relationship with his father is strained, but he cannot believe that his father would betray his country by giving the list to the French. When he finds out his father's motivation, he and Mari join forces to set things right.

This was a new author for me. The heroine is a spy and confident as she lands on top of the hero in the first scene from a parachute. Interesting twists and turns til they find their destiny. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks.

I loved this story. Mari has an unusual occupation and she is a spy on top of that. Her talents make her a formidable person. Her passion makes her endearing. It took me a while to warm up to Cosmo, but once I did, I fell in love along with Mari. They both have past pain that made them cautious, but together they healed. I highly recommend this story and look forward to reading more from Diana Quincy.

Spy Fall I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review."Spy Fall" by Diana Quincy is book one in the 'Regency Spymasters' series. This is the story of Mari Lamarre and Lord Cosmo Dunsmore. I thought this was a really great book that had some drama, romance, mystery and great secondary characters. Mari and her brothers are spy's for the Crown. Their new assignment is to find out if Marquess of Aldridge is giving information to France as a spy / traitor. Mari and her brothers are also aeronautic / balloonist who learned their skill from their father. She used that skill to get onto the property of Aldridge and landing on his son Cosmo. Cosmo was coming back from drinking and whoring when he was caught off guard by Mari landing on him and his property. Comso has been feeling sorry for himself since the death of his sister when he was not able to save her when she was giving birth alone and died. This has also put a strain on his relationship with his father. His father is also going through a hard time with his health and the lost of his daughter. Cosmo is quickly attracted to Mari but feels that she is not what she is representing her self to be. So he has decided to keep an eye on her and find out what is going on with her. Mari has found too that she is finding Cosmo hard to resist and she likes his father. Mari has been hurt by a man before and she knows most man will not put up with her balloonist activities not to mention the spying she does. Will we find out what is going on with the father Aldridge? Can Cosmo stop his bad ways to become the man for Mari and his father need? Will Mari be able to let her guard down and believe that she can have it all? https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1... http://sissymaereads.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/sally.mae.39... http://booklikes.com/ https://romancebookreviewforyou.wordp... https://www.facebook.com/groups/17091...

***ARC Copy provided by the publisher and NetGalley*** I find myself oddly neutral about this book. I don't know how to explain this without spoilers, so I am going to discuss the first scene. In it, we meet Cosmo...who reeks of sex and perfume and alcohol. Not attractive in a hero. And then he is described as perfect, as attractive, as capable. So, do we like him, or not? Mari is funny, capable and fierce, but at the same time, she is over the top and, IMO more than a little rude. I think this is supposed to be charming, to show her strength...but it left me not 100% sure what I thought of her, if I liked her or not...she fell out of the sky, onto him...yet it is HIS fault. Some of this was over the top. Some of it seemed reasonable, some of it wasn't something I connected with...leaving me neutral. I didn't dislike this book, and I do recommend it for it's rather different, throw everything you can at it, style. But, neutral.

I love reading historical spy stories and "Spy Fall" was an intriguing and enjoyable read. Ms. Mari Lamerre is a balloonist and parachutist who enjoys free falling . She's daring, feisty and mysterious and when she accidentally lands on Lord Cosmos Dunsmore, a scoundrel and heir, the fun is just beginning. This book held my interest throughout although I did guess the twist. However, it did not take away my enjoyment of the book and I especially wanted to see how the mystery was resolved. Mari's character was lush and full of contradictions while Cosmos goes through his own transformation. I loved their banter and the sexual tension between them. Ms. Quincy is a new author to me, but I'd definitely read more books by her. Recommended. I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have found a new author to add to my (short) list of historical romance authors I enjoy. HR is not what I read a whole lot of because sometimes the language is too “flowery” or the drama of the plot seems tame. But Spy Fall has neither of those cons for me. Spy Fall is smart, adventurous and sexy as hell. It is probably one of the more explicit HR books I’ve read, but I am not complaining. I loved the characters – Cosmo and Mari had fiery exchanges of the humorous, smart, and passionate kind that kept me glued to the pages. I am definitely looking forward to other books of this series and reading more books by Diana Quincy. Copy received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a clever story in many ways. The title of the book was clever because the story begins with our French heroine parachutist (Mari Lamarre) falling from the sky on top of our drunken hero (Lord Cosmo). The story itself is clever because it is not your typical Regency romance. It involves our heroine’s unusual occupation called aerostation. And it is clever because she is also a spy, attempting to find a French spy that endangers the lives of her family back in France. What a romp of a romance this was! I can heartily endorse it to readers

Beautiful introduction to her new Spy series! I love stories of spies and SPY FALL was a real delight to read! Written by Diana Quincy, I found this dramatic romance very interesting to read I have to say, that, this is my first read from this author. It’s the perfect introduction for her ‘Rebellious Brides’ series. I wish to note that the heroine is half French and half English, so it makes her a special heroine! Ms. Quincy really used the right translations for each French words and expressions. This is the story of Mari Lamarre and Lord Cosmo Dunsmore. Its starts as Cosmo, a passionate and sinful rake, has a vision of an angel falling from the sky. This angel is Mari Lamarre, an aeronaut or a balloonist, who is is also a spy. Lots of ups and downs! Beautiful chemistry between Cosmo and Mari! Beware, you will get pulled into their romance. Will these two embark on a torrid affair and have sparks flare a hot passion? I am looking forward to read her next book in this series License to wed!

Langtry House, home of the Marquess of Aldridge, has been vacant for some time. Even now with the Marquess and his son, Lord Cosmo and their staff in attendance, the house seems lifeless. The laughter has disappeared from the home and grounds since the death of Lady Elinor, Cosmo's sister, years before. That is until an "angel," lands in the fields. Or was that an aeronaut? Whichever... life, energy and drama enter the household! Thoroughly engrossing romance and espionage! Mourning and guilt segue into laughter, tears, intrigue and good reading! Delightful!
