As children, we all liked to cut up things. That’s why Mom gave us an old catalog and a pair of children’s scissors. That way we didn’t cut up anything good.

Now you can revert to your childhood with a tiny addition – you do get to cut up something good. These quilts are made by sewing squares together and then cutting them into other pieces and sewing those pieces together again.

The first 16 pages provides basic instructions on how this “cut it up” technique works. The very first project is simply squares cut into triangles and then cut into strips. The quilts get more in-depth on how they are cut as you move through the book but if you follow the instructions, you can’t miss making a beautiful quilt.

The graphics show you what the written words are saying and there are enough to make sure you are doing it right. Color photos of the projects also have the finished size of the project and the blocks. A paragraph about the item begins the written words and the materials and cutting lists are easy to follow. Each project has quilting suggestions to complete your work.

Even though these quilts look difficult, they are very easy to do if you follow the directions. I can’t wait to share this with my quilt guild.
