I would like to point out that I Gave this 3 stars on Goodreads and this means I LIKED IT - not just ok but that I liked it enough to want to read more when another book comes out.
The story is set in the future, after mankind has decimated the earth and only a few survive, and to survive things change dramatically - no longer are our lives basically free to do what we wish, whether that be a doctor or a shop assistant, no its very different.
The world Ms. Skinner has created will make you reflect on how our world in the present day really is, I know there are some very good things but inherently we are a selfish world. Ms Skinners future is frighteningly quite possible.
This is a YA Novel and its great read for adult or young readers, I have certainly enjoyed reading it.
I don't do spoiler reviews so I will not really say much about the story but the beginning - WOW I was just pulled straight in and was really not wanting to put it down even though my eyes were seeing double!
The writing style is easy to read, the world building gives your imagination lots to build on, in fact at one point there was so much explaining about how the Global Good ran things that I did feel as if I was at school in my history class, not thats a bad thing mind you as I think what the writer is doing is laying down the foundations for the next book
If you want a book that has a mix of the Paranormal but gives food for thought on where we will be in the future I recommend you buy this book and read it. I look forward to reading book 2
*I received this book as part of a Book Tour and this is my honest review, I will be checking out Ms Skinners first book Marquel and looking forward to more of Her writing.

I really enjoyed this book. The way it was composed was unlike any other I've ever read. The plot was different from any other I've seen, too. I liked this book mostly -being a Christian- because it was about this world with no religious belief other than their government called Good. In the novel, the main character (Sybille) finds an old diary that was written by a girl (from our modern times, named Blair) that has been given gifts from God. In the diary and through various encounters in the book, Sybille learns about God and how she may be an important role in bringing back His religion. Make sure that when you read this book, you are prepared to stay focused and keep up with what's happening because there is rarely ever nothing happening and all the events that happen are very important to the end result. I have been given nothing to complain about with this novel. I'm very much looking forward to the next book! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
