I throughly enjoyed this book. It was written in the late 1800's/early 1900's. She references a lot of mythology which I am not familar with. She also uses a lot of words whose definitions are not available when you try to look them up. The story still makes since though. There was only one problem with the ebook - apparently a few paragraphs or pages were missing in one section. Sadly it was at a fairly critical point. Once you get over that disappointment, you can figure out the jist of what was missed. This book isn't an easy read, but it is an interesting story. At one time a few years ago a large university had this book reprinted for their students. Note, I have read this book before, but was excited to get it on my Nook.

St. Elmo is one of my all time favorites, this book actually gave me the inspiration of having favorite books. I once thought the library too big and having favorites wouldn't be fair since I can't read the whole entire library of books but when I read St. Elmo, I broke my rule and exclaimed this book my favorite. The only reason you might be compelled to abandon it is because the beginning is rather dry but please don't because you will regret it.
