Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathleen Karr
Four stackable board books and a firm base with a peg to stack the books upon are included in this package. The peg is an oval truncated by one straight side to add a little challenge to the exercise for baby. As for the books, each has hard and shiny plastic covers which open to three spreads, and each contains a total of three words in bold caps, along with some simple, universally symbolic artwork associated with the book's shape. In fact the books are named for their shapes, and each one is designed around a primary color. Circle is green and uses "GREEN," and "CIRCLE" while working up to its third word, "TURTLE," facing a turtle image. Square's "BLUE" segues into a wrapped present; Triangle's "YELLOW" into a sailboat, and Heart's "RED" into—quite naturally—a Valentine. Yoon's concept of Minimalism for the youngest set is rather fascinating. Fortunately, the BOLD use of COLOR and DESIGN makes the package work. Reviewer: Kathleen Karr
