Phillip Marshall was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He's been writing about sports in Alabama since the early 1970s. Formerly the sports editor for the Huntsville News, the Decatur Daily, and the Montgomery Advertiser, he is currently the beat writer covering Auburn football for the Huntsville Times. This two-time president of the Alabama Sports Writers Association has won more than twenty-five writing awards.
