"...This was a fast, fun read. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters. Hope there is a book two!"
Keisha J.
I don't usually read books by authors I don't know, but Ella James makes me glad I did. Frankly I'm surprised I didn't get this book off a shelf at Books-A-Million. Ella writes as well as any mainstream author. I can only assume she is new and that is why the book is only available on Kindle at the moment. I for one would like to see it in print. The characters, Julia and Cayne, are memorable and have an effortless chemistry not found in books by many other YA authors.

One of my friends told me about Stained! I loved it!! Julia and Cayne are an amazing couple! This was soo worth it. Good price, and I love the story. There aren't many angel and demon books but this one is well-written and I love the characters. I feel like a teenager but I am really wanting a sequel. :)
Annie J.
This read was way beyond my expectations. It didn't take long for me to be totally involved in this wild adventure-packed fantasy and the lives of Julia and Cayne. It is such fun! I didn't want to put it down and I hated for it to end.

Meet the Author

Ella James is the pseudonym of a 20-something author who lives in St. Louis with her wonderful husband, whiny baby, and mopey dog. She likes ice cream sandwiches, Diet Grapico, geeky space stuff, novels with romance, and sleeping. Dislikes: waiting, repetition, math, and grasshoppers. If she had things her way, she'd spend all her time on a space station, writing, reading, and eating ice cream sandwiches (with her husband, her baby, and her dog, of course.

    This is a MUST read!

The first night I started reading Stained, I was so engrossed in the story that I fell asleep dreaming I was chasing Demons on the streets of Memphis. It is the very rare book that makes it into my dreams. The bantering between Julia and Kayne was endearing, hilarious and at times frustrating, but it was consistently entertaining. Like any relationship, you'll want to slap Kayne just as much as you'll want to kiss him. It only added to the enjoyment of their adventure and growing relationship. I was on the edge of my seat through most of the book, right up until the end. the last page will have you drooling for more. Lastly, being a Tennessee girl who's been to Memphis several times, I loved that Julia and Kayne's story begins in Memphis.

    Minus stars

What a big load of rubbish. Probably one of the worst books i have ever tried to read. File this garbage under DNF and deleting rapidly. Would not recommend at all.

    A Great Read

If you like novels about the Nephilim, then this novel is for you. Julia is a very interesting character, but I really think that Cayne takes the cake in this novel. He’s a dreamy, brooding character who, like Julia, is chasing down the half-demon, Sam. I really enjoyed watching the relationship bud between Julia and Cayne as the novel unfolded. Going from extremely standoffish to luke warm, and so on and so forth, the novel slowly brought the characters together. Though there is an instant attraction, it was nice that the characters didn’t automatically fall in love, but had to learn to trust each other and slowly came together.

The idea behind the stained was very intriguing. Although the novel doesn’t answer every question it poses, James keeps the reader intrigued throughout, especially as we learn more about the characters’ pasts and begin piecing things together. The first in the series, it is shaping up to be a very promising read.

When I started this book, I went into it with low to zero expect

When I started this book, I went into it with low to zero expectations. I’ve read Before You Go by this same author awhile ago, and even though the writing was good, I wasn’t too impressed with the story or its characters. Once I got to the second chapter of Stained though, I was hooked.

As far as paranormal romances go, the plot isn’t really new or unique, but it is exciting and in the first two thirds of the book there is a lot of action and enough vagueness which raises loads of questions and keeps you turning the pages to find the answers. Ella James’s writing flows easily and she manages to draw the reader into the story by slowly unveiling the background stories of the two main characters, which of course adds more twists and secrets to the plot.

However, as much as I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue of Stained, I felt that in some places the story was rushed and there were quite a few jumps in logic. Certain things didn’t make sense to me at all and although I found the dream sequences to be imaginative and mysterious, they were also lengthy and didn’t add anything to the development of the story. I also found it strange that a two-hundred-year old character doesn’t know how to drive, but he masters this skill in less than two days and outruns the villains on the interstate, driving like a pro.

Stained is the first book in the Stained Series, so I’m guessing most of the questions I still had unanswered by the end of the book, will probably be addressed in one of the next books in this series. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, and although Julia’s character got on my nerves from time to time, I still liked her as she acted the way a real seventeen-year old would. Cayne - mood-swings and all - is definitely worth the read too. Overall, this is a quick and enjoyable read, nothing too series. Judging by everything that had happened in this book, the rest of the series looks promising and I highly recommend it to paranormal romance addicts. Now I’m looking forward to reading Ella James’s Here.

It was really boring; Like really.

Just seemed too boring ,and kept loosing me.

The whole book is basically about Julia who looses her adopted parents were killed in a fire because a half-demon wants her dead. So she goes on a "trip" to get revenge and meets a guy. They go on the trip together.

THE END. Yeah it sucks.dint waist your time.

Absolutely Amazing!! I have had this book on my Kindle for a while now & I can't believe I didn't get to it sooner!! I was completely drawn in by the first chapter and by the time I got halfway through, I went to Amazon to buy the next 3 titles in the series because I knew I was completely hooked! Julia is brave and strong, despite all she's been through. And Cayne, whooo! Definitely the type of sexy, bad-boy that you wouldn't mind 'dropping in' on you anytime! The action is immediate and non-stop, so don't plan on this being a relaxing read. It will keep you up reading all night! Then right on into book 2!

    Okay

This book was EXTREMELY confusing at first, and I couldn't find my bearings until about half way through the book. It was just an okay read, really. Nothing I would rave about, but I would recommend it to pass the time.
