Overview

Newly vamped Sarah Dearly wants her normal life back, but fate is fighting against her. She tries to get a regular job and gets staked in the interview, only to be rescued by a masked vampire who calls himself the Red Devil. Then a wallflower-turned-witch curses her, making her a bloodthirsty, sun-allergic nightwalker—the worst vampire there is. As if all that weren't enough, she can't get married because her 600-year-old boyfriend, Thierry, is in a centuries-long marriage of convenience he can't escape.

As Sarah's nightwalker tendencies make her more dangerous, even to those she loves, she'll have to counteract that curse, unmask the increasingly intriguing Red Devil, and get a commitment from her man. But if that's what it takes to secure her happiness, Sarah is ready...even if it means embracing her inner vamp to do it.

    Whoo to the Hoo, Michelle!

I have gotta say that while I was happy with the action break in Sarah's story for Quinn's in Lady & the Vamp, I am happy to be back in the middle of Sarah Dearly's not so fangtastic immortality. Thierry is featured more in this story than in the others, with the readers getting a glimpse into his head and background. I have always liked Thierry in spite of his seeming coldness but now you get a true idea of why he does what he does, and who he is, and it makes him much more endearing as a character. Sarah gets into her usual amount of trouble, getting staked, cursed, and rescued by a masked person calling himself the Red Devil. Add in parents concerned that she is dating a married man and a ten year high school reunion and all hell is literally breaking loose.

This installment has a lot of action, great character building and awesome plot development. This story is part of a two story arc with the last in the series coming in September, so don't expect complete resolution, but it does end on a "happy for now" note that will hopefuly hold you over for the six months until Ms Rowen concludes this series. I know I am on pins and needles waiting!

Definitely the best in the series

I loved this book. The whole series is very funny and extremely entertaining but this is so far the best. Thierry has always been a mystery and I really liked how this book had some of his point of view and you get to know him a little better.

    Fangtastic - Well Sort Of

I jumped into this series in the middle, at this book. Now I realize that this is book four and maybe not the best thing to do. Regardless I like the characters and find Sarah, our main character and newly turned vampire, to be fun and strong and just what a girl who is into vampire books needs. Sarah wants to keep some of her humanity and goes to her high school reunion. While at her reunion she gets cursed and turns into a Nightwalker (not a good thing). This book is about her, the love of her life, and a historical vampire called the Red Devil. Entertaining.

Captivating! Escapism into a totally "alternate lifestyle" of legend and myth that makes it credible to the reader.

The characters once again immerse the reader into the ups and downs of life as a vampire. There is humor, suspense and hot romance that continue to ignite the story between Sarah and Thierry. It is a funny romp that continues to captivate the reader. I have been following this series and feel the next book will be bittersweet since it will be its last.

    I Also Recommend:

Smitten with Rowen and her Immortality Bites Series!!

Michelle Rowen... Remember that name.. The Immortality Bites Series is a fun, light hearted, mildly sexy, make you laugh out loud (seriously, I've done it)series. I have enjoyed all the books in this series, and they are easy reads which is also a plus... There are 3 book that preceed this one in the series, so make sure you read them in order. You can really relate to the main character and her thoughts, so she is easy to follow and believable.. There is also the tall, dark, and sexy vampire that is all mysterious!! Who wouldn't love that... I have already given my books to a friend to read and she loves them.. If you like The Twilight Series, Sookie Stackhouse Series, and The Betsy Taylor Series then you will like Rowen's style as well. Happy Reading!!

    Worth the Wait

This is a great series with great characters. This book in particular gives more history and background of Thierry and how he feels about Sarah. Reading this book is like hanging out with old friends. The ending of this book was fantastic. Keeps you hanging on for more - but just enough closure so you aren't frustrated. I also like that the next novel is supposed to be the last for this series, which as much as I like it, I'm glad. I would hate to see her become tired and stale as another vampire author has who is now on number 16 or 17 of her series.

    amusing urban fantasy

In Toronto fledgling vampire Sarah Dearly tries to retain her former human life though since the blind date from hell with the late Gordon Richards who converted her over two months ago (see BITTEN AND SMITTEN) that has proven impossible. Even crazier is that amidst the vamps and hunters she is called Slayer of Slayers for killing a vampire hunter, pure luck did it (see FANGED AND FABULOUS). However, her fortune holds when she is staked but saved by that masked hombre Red Devil the vampire.

Her parents worry that their daughter is seeing a much older probably married man (so Master Vampire Thierry de Bennicoeur is little older than her parents at six hundred years or so) while Sarah muses over tasting the blood of two ancient vampire masters (Thierry and the late Nicolai). At her high school reunion, a still furious from their teen days (talk about not letting go) schoolmate who was rejected as a cheerleader so became a witch curses Sarah, turning her into an obsessed blood addicted vampire that leaves the heroine fearing for her loved ones.

The fourth Immortality urban fantasy (see LADY & THE VAMP) is an amusing over the top of the CN Tower that series fans will enjoy though the story line leaves the major plot lines wide open for a sequel. Sarah is terrific as she is a paranormal magnet for evil doers. Fun albeit thin, readers will enjoy her latest capers as she has another vampire in her undead existence.

Stakes & Stilettos is the fourth book in the Immortalities Bites series. Michelle Rowan has a talent for mixing romance ad humor. She never allows her books or characters to get too serious. The plot is rich and full of twists and turns. The reader learns that life as a vampire has its ups and downs, just like life as a mortal. If you enjoy vampires, you will enjoy Stakes & Stilettos.
