Finch's undistinguished crime debut introduces Det. Sgt. Mark "Heck" Heckenberg, currently attached to Britain's National Crime Group. The sole officer assigned to a case involving 38 missing women and stymied by a lack of official support, Heck is infuriated when he discovers the investigation is slated to be shut down. Forced to go on leave, Heck launches his own unauthorized inquiry. Assisted by ex-soldier Lauren Wraxford, whose sister is among the vanished, Heck discovers the existence of the "Nice Guys Club," a criminal enterprise that supplies rape victims for their well-to-do clients. Once the depraved clients are sated, the victims are murdered. Moreover, the conspiracy appears to extend to senior levels of the National Crime Group itself. This attempted thriller is sabotaged by subpar prose and a plot that claims to critique violence against women but instead exploits it for the reader's entertainment. (Aug.)
From the Publisher
“Edge-of-the-seat reading…Heck is formidable – a British Alex Cross.” THE SUN“Wonderfully dark and peppered with grim humour. Finch is a born storyteller and writes with the authentic voice of the ex-copper he is.” PETER JAMES"An ingenious and original plot. Compulsive reading.” RACHEL ABBOTT“A deliciously twisted and fiendish set of murders and a great pairing of detectives.” STAV SHEREZ“Avon’s big star…part edge-of-the-seat, part hide-behind-the-sofa! An excellent series.” THE BOOKSELLER“An explosive thriller that will leave you completely hooked on Heck.” WE LOVE THIS BOOK

Not realistic . Low level cop that works for suits with no real cop experience. Sound familar? Whole plot way over the top.

Just a little hint...if you google the name of the book and the author's name, it may give a more thorough description if you want. I've done it for many books.
