Genuine talent in service to a song.

This guy is the real thing: a singer and a stylist. His take on standards rivals anybody's, and his voice has no limits. The work that he produced after his win on Star Search was technically amazing, but sometimes lacked warmth and a sense of actually connecting with the words emotionally: style over content. On this set of recordings, that has all changed and for the better. He still has the technical pipes to send shivers all over you, but they are in service to a new connectedness to the lyrics and his feelings about their messages. Age has served him well (as well as the experience of singing in a couple Broadway shows every night.)

Sam Harris has one of the most breathtaking voices on the music scene today

Standard Time: Sam Harris has the right to sing, his voice is one of the most stunning, soothing, breathtaking on the music scene today, he is also one of the most underrated performers of our time. Here on "Standard Time" Sam have selected some of the most famous standard songs and have made them his own. From the first cut on the album "Let Me Sing" you can hear that Sam loves to sing to make us happy. "Blame It On My Youth" is such a beautiful song, and Sam makes you feel the ache of being lonely. "Blue Skies" is a showstopper. Sam's voice makes you soar as if you were a blue bird in the sky. "Over The Rainbow" being one of Sam's signature songs here he gives us a different version of the known classic by recording the rarely heard or recorded first verse of the song. Sam's voice is in top form and the album is wonderfully arranged, conducted and produced by the great late Peter Matz.
