I am now an addict to McKenna's books. I've read 3 books of hers, and Fade to Midnight is my favorite.

Must read!!!!!

This book is my favorite of the McCloud brothers! I have read this book so many times the binding has fell out (I just purchased a new one)! Connor & Erin are my favorite of the entire series and Shannon McKennas books NEVER disappoint!

Don't waste your money.

I read the first book in this series and gave it two stars. Occasionally the second in a series is better but not in this case. The characters seemed very childish to me and the love scenes were repeatedly the same. I could not even finish it, something I almost never do.

Best in the McCloud series

I love the McClouds and Connor is by far my favorite brother. I could not put this one down. There was not one thing I didnt like about this book.

2nd to worst book I have ever read

At least half of this book was unreadable. Plot was good but lost in the sex scenes which were way over done (some 10 pages or more)

Will not ever buy another book by this author.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! CONNER AND ERIN ARE GREAT TOGETHER.

I really loved the characters in this book, and the dialogue was great. I love to read books that give you the full range of emotions and this one does. Connor and Erin have a long history together, and I liked that they had history instead of just meeting and falling in love it makes the story more believable. The random characters poping up here and there could be a little disorienting, but in the end you get it. I loved the comical direction the "mother-in-law" took, because at first she was just a depressing character. Barbara was at her best when she wheedled Connors cane, and the way her relationship with Connor developed was hilarious. The sex scenes were great in this book and I loved that Erin was the one to seduce instead of Connor. I like to read strong female lead characters and not the wilting flower. I wish the end would have elaborated more and given one more really hot scene, but I guess that's what sequels are for. I love all of Shannon Mckenna's books and will continue to be an avid reader of hers. I highly recomend this series to anyone over 18 that enjoys the thriller/romance genre. All in all great read and will read many more times.

Excellent!!

This is a must read...I recommend reading the whole series...so far there are a total of six books...the seventh book does not come out until spring 2010.

These books/series is amazing!! I could not put them down...great suspense and romance...my first time reading anything by this author and she ended up being excellent....

This was not my first Shannon McKenna book. I have loved everything I have read from her but I was a little disappointed in this one and I'm not sure why. Where her other stories have grabbed me and wouldn't let me put it down, keeping me completely interest the entire time this one kind of slowed down in the middle and took me longer to read. This story was a good read and I am glad I bought it but it wan't great page turning hypnotic.

Holy Mary Mother...

Wowzers! This was one hot read. I loved it. I'm a big fan of erotica and Shannon McKenna definitely knows how to give her readers what they want. I have to disagree with previous reveiws and say that I did think she story line was good. When I want erotic romance I read McKenna or Lora Leigh, when I want something where the romance/sex takes a backseat then I read someone else. Review before you buy that way you won't be taken aback.

good read

a good read. erin and connor had already had known each other for years before they were actually involved in a sexual relastionship. yet they both have had wild fantasies about each other. so when the two finally become involved it feels real and sensual.

New Fan

I stumbled apon this book by accident and decided, 'What the heck, I'll buy it!' From the very first chapter you are hooked and wanting more. This book suprised me, i have been looking for new romance-suspense novel for some time now and this auther has been sitting right under my nose the whole time. When you read this book you get the feeling that these characters could actually be real people and your drawn in. You also are going to get really turned on! This book is one of my top three favortie Romance Novels!

Wow!

This was one of the hottest reads ever. Ms. McKenna manages to write a good story while keeping the romance hot & heavy, but never kinky or vulgar. This is the 2nd book by her that I've read (the first being Behind Closed Doors, also very good), and I've just ordered my 3rd - Return to Me - hope it's as good as the other two.

Eyes wide and ready for the next book!

Shannon McKenna's STANDING IN THE SHADOW was, I thought, even more thrilling, sensual, sexual, and suspensful than the first, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. My eyes are wide and ready for the next few stories of 'The Cave' members like Davy and Sean McCloud... perhaps maybe even further insight into what the couples, Seth and Raine or Connor and Erin are up to adventuring into the married life. I can't hardly wait!

Want more stories about other characters

I'm almost finished with this book & already think it's a great story. I've read Behind Closed Doors and actually like this one better so far. Maybe a little too hot and heavy, or unrealistic sometimes during the steamy sex scenes. I'm starting to get caught up with the other characters as well and hope to hear their stories. I'm sort of hoping Wally is taken out of the picture and Sean and Cindy bump into each other sometime in the future. I'm still hoping some sort of hint of that happens before this book is through.

Wanted More Storyline

This was my first book by this author. While I love a good thriller with 'sizzlin' sex scenes, I was a little overwhelmed with the sheer number of times this couple was 'coupled up.' I actually started skimming those pages to find the story.....but I think I'll try another one of her books. I don't give up on an author after one try.
