Standing Ovation sees singing sensation Susan Boyle and world acclaimed producer Biff Stannard join forces to present a stunning album of songs from the golden era of film and stage.

Featuring breathtaking renditions of ‘Send in the Clowns’ and ‘Bring Him Home’, Susan fearlessly takes on the iconic song ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ giving it a new identity. ‘Standing Ovation’ also showcases duets with her lifelong idol Donny Osmond and the “Phantom” himself Michael Crawford. One of the selections, “Memory” from the musical Cats, will be familiar to her fans - it’s the song Susan sang in the semi-final round of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.

The album heralds a return to an era of much loved music for Susan Boyle, a lifelong fan of musicals. Her favorite songs from the golden age of film and theatre fused with her outstanding vocals from the ethereal to the dramatic, the music showcases the voice the world fell in love with.

Talking about her album Susan said; “I have been a fan of musicals since I was a wee girl. I love them and have enjoyed the drama and the range of emotions they inspire in you. I still remember the first time I saw Les Mis, my all time favorite. I fell in love with it and have seen it now countless times as each time you watch it you draw something different.

Creating this album was a joy and came very naturally as I knew the songs and could identify with the characters in the studio. Recording with Donny on two songs was a dream come true. Working with him was awesome and I learned so much from him as a performer and a person. Being in the studio with him was without doubt the best day ever- it wasn’t work!”

Standing Ovation was produced by Biff Stannard in Glasgow and London. Stannard is a highly regarded producer who in the past has worked with Kylie Minogue, U2, Westlife and One Direction to name a few.

This is a no brainer, just beautiful, and don't hesitate to buy this . Her voice is magical, in this series of stage shows. How wonderful, she got to sing two songs with her childhood heart throb, Donnie Osmond, and he is fantanstic. Who wouldn't dream of that? As long as you sing Susan, I'll be here to buy, and all her cd's have been some of my Xmas gifts. Bravo Susan and Donnie.

I've loved Susan Boyle's voice since she came onto the scene and have really enjoyed all of her CD's up to this point, but this one is without a doubt her best one yet.
The orchestration is beautiful and powerful where it should be, but it never overpowers her beautiful vocals.
A lot of these tracks are my all time favorites from musical theater and the duets are terrific. I knew that Michael Crawford's would be outstanding and it didn't disappoint, but was completely surprised at the beauty of the 2 duets with Donny Osmond.
I'd list my favorite tracks but I can't this time because I really love all of them. So often there are a few good tracks and the rest are fillers, but every track on this CD is a winner.
Not only will I recommend this to friends, I'll be buying several more copies for Christmas gifts.

This album is Susan Boyle's best to date in my admittedly picky view. Arrogantly labeling myself as a real music lover, I quickly shy away from artificial noise music, repetitive lyrics and unnecessary vocal acrobatics. While I have never had to shy from Susan Boyle's music, this album is so spectacular as to practically shut me up.

Susan's almost miraculous take on Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Memory leave me staring at my speakers, wondering how does she do that. Her ability to express such a variety of emotions and her remarkable vocal expertise just eclipses most other offerings.

One could write all day about the feelings evoked by The Winner Takes It All, Bring Him Home, As Long As He Needs Me, Out Here On My Own, and You'll Never Walk Alone. Susan's voice leaves no doubt that these songs touched her and then she touched me. Big time. Every song has something special, and the variety contributes to making this album a winner.

The duets with Donny Osmond are a treat I never expected. He is so perfect with her and she with him. Amazing vocal blending in this collaboration. The Music Of The Night with Michael Crawford is a whole new experience in hearing Susan for me. Clearly playing the role and loving it.

I feel a bit helpless that one can only give five stars to this amazing album. A must have for those who love this type of music and probably for a good many who just don't yet know they love it.

All I can say is "WOW". I have been a fan of Susan Boyle since she first came into the public eye and I have bought all her albums. She has the most pure, magical voice with an incredible range of musical ability. This album just blew me away. She adds her own unique style to these musical selections. I was especially impressed with the two selections she sings with Michael Crawford and Donny Osmond from Phantom of the Opera. "Bring Him Home", "Memory", and "You'll Never Walk Alone" just left me in awe at Susan's incredible talent. This album left me wanting to hear more. I hope that Susan continues to share her beautiful singing talent with the world. Besides being such a gifted singer, Susan has such charm, humility and grace. I will continue buying her albums as long as she sings. This would be an incredible Xmas gift for family and friends. Bravo again Susan!!!

This album fulfills the promise of Susan Boyle's audition., In the audition, we heard the raw power and beauty of the voice., It has been honed to perfection and with the expert help of her new producer, Susan has given us a masterpiece! Listening, one can see her standing center stage and creating the characters of Grizabella in "Cats" as she sings the poignant and weary "Memory" or Nettie in "Carousel" inspiring and comforting Julie with "You'll Never Walk alone. The haunting "Bring Him Home" will touch your soul and break your heart. "Music of the Night", her duet with Micheal Crawford is a stunning musical seduction. The two duets with Donny Osmond, "All I Ask" and "This is the Moment" are highlights of the album with the perfect vocal chemistry of Susan and Donny. "As Long as He Needs Me" is one of the most moving moments in the album as she creates Nancy singing of her ill fated love for Bill Sykes, from "Oliver". Each song will thrill, excite, touch you. There is not one wasted moment or glorious note in this superb album. I highly recommend. If you are not a musical theater buff, it does not matter. This is simply beautiful music beautifully performed. A must have for any music lover and destined to be a classic.

Out of Stock - ????? I'd like to buy this album in the store, not online. Why doesn't Barnes and Noble get enough copies in their stores? Or at least order more copies? They're out of stock already in the 2 stores where I shop. And in these stores you cannot order it and then go pick it up, you have to do Ship to Home.
