Editorial Reviews

Hockey Book Reviews.com
"If your child is interested in hockey history, then (this) is an ideal title. Even if you are an adult looking for a quick read on the legend of Cyclone Taylor then Star Power is a great pick up."
Children's Literature - Barbara Carroll Roberts
Young ice hockey players and fans will probably enjoy this biography of one of the sport's earliest stars, Fred "Cyclone" Taylor. Those with no previous familiarity with ice hockey may be a bit perplexed, however, since the book assumes the reader's knowledge of numerous hockey players and situations. Zweig's prose style is rather plain, and though the book is stuffed with play-by-play minutiae, it lacks the kind of sensory detail that would truly draw the reader into the action. Still, the writing is straightforward and conversational in tone, making it easily accessible to young readers. For hockey buffs who want to learn about the early days of the sport, this would be a good choice. Back matter includes a glossary that will help those unfamiliar with hockey terminology.
