Many people argue as to what London's masterpiece was. Some say The Call of the Wild, others say The Sea Wolf, and still others say White Fang. It is my belief The Star Rover is Jack London's masterpiece. Although London wrote the novel with muckraking in mind, it became so much more than a look at the deplorable conditions of prisons in the United States at the time. The way London weaves multiple stories into the life of one character is amazing, but don't mistake it for a novel just about reincarnation. Many other philosophical ideas are addressed. London states the theme outright at the end, and for any man who has ever loved someone I believe you will agree with it.
