KLIATTThe Strange New Worlds series prints the best Star Trek tales from the annual amateur authors competition. In this year's volume there are 23 new tales by authors who according to the rules of the competition have published no more than two short stories on a professional basis. The majority of authors in this year's volume have never published before at all (there are four who have published before in the series). The stories are creative but are a bit uneven in the quality of their writing. There is a new category created for the winning story this year, which is set one hundred thousand years in the future. This is a fun series for all Star Trek fans. The rules of the annual competitions are in the back of the book. KLIATT Codes: JSA-Recommended for junior and senior high school students, advanced students, and adults. 2003, Pocket Books, 370p., Ages 12 to adult.
