Like any sci-fi score worth its weight in collapsing stars, the 11th big-screen voyage of the Starship Enterprise is propelled by bold, brass-led melodies that echo the heydays of the great Hollywood Westerns, and Giacchino has crafted a memorable, classic in the silver screen sense rendering of that pioneering spirit. Stoic, regal, and undeniably fun, Giacchino's Star Trek is a worthy successor to one of the great space opera themes of the 20th century.

    Boldly going Giacchino's way!

It easy to know how well this score works when you seen the movie, but apart from the film it is equally as compelling. Michael Giacchino has given Stat Trek a new sound that is independent from all previous musical incarnations - only the theme from the old TV show is used, and then it's only used at the end. This is film scoring in the John Williams vein full of catchy themes and wonderful counterpoint. Michael Giacchino has had one heck of a year in 2009 and the future only looks brighter! Sad that the Oscar winning score for Up never had a proper CD release.

A must for anyone who enjoyed this movie!

I saw Star Trek three times, and have most of the soundtracks from their 11 movies. This soundtrack evokes many fond memories of the new movie, and makes me eager for the day when the film is available on DVD. Even the quirky names of the tracks symbolize how this Star Trek is more "cutting edge" than those that came before it. Even my kids (8 & 2) enjoy the music. Purchasing this soundtrack is the next logical step for anyone who wants more Trek!

    AMAZING SOUNDTRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a soundtrack junkie and was so impressed by the music that I immediately went to purchase the cd when I left the movie theater. After searching desperately I found the last copy at the local B&N store. THANK GOD! The musicianship and style variety from smooth to harsh makes you feel like your right there next to Capt. Kirk or least wish you could be anyway. It makes you ready to fight the good fight. EXCELLENT MUSIC!!! I've already recommended it to everyone I know and hope that one day, as a brass player, I will get the joy getting to play the music myself.

Another Fine Piece of Trek Music

I saw the movie the weekend after it came out, and I was blown away. It was wonderful to see elements from the series, and movies combined into something truly new. Being a fan of instrumental music, I completely loved Michael Giacchino's score, and it sounds just as good playing out of my car's audio system.

    Amazing Star Trek Soundtrack

I saw the movie this past weekend. I really liked this soundtrack and it re-tells the story right after you see the film.
