    The Doctor is in.

The comic versions of TV shows always suffer in translation; the same can be said in reverse . The idea, however grabbed me and I had to pick it up. So far I'm not disappointed. Matt Smith's Doctor hasn't suffered too much in translation (He has been quoting the TV show quite a bit in his dialogue). Amy is a little stilted, she mostly seems to be there to establish the Doctor's character to TNG readers-- not quite enough of the girl who waited. Arthur-- a bit of the same treatment . He does get to race a chariot. I know we will have to suffer a bit of the expository treatment of characters until the middle of issue two-- at least.

The art is nice to look at. When well established characters are represented in this medium, you can't help but say " that looks like him " or "that's not what she looks like". The star shots must have been traced from stills of the show. That's one way to go , and if they are done well, as they have been here, you can excuse the occasional stiff shot and bland expression. If the look keeps you in the game and doesn't pull you out of the story then it's working . The other way to go is to completely stylize the look and just concentrate on characterization. That's what I was expecting when I saw the issue cover for #1. If they stick with these artists they may pull it off.

This is the first Nook comic I have bought. Frankly, I wouldn't have bought it if the comic shop had the print version in stock. as far as the Nook comic experience goes;its okay but it doesn't compare to the Marvel or Comixology readers. When can we get that app oh Lords of Nook?

    Great start

This is a great start to the series. Not a lot of action in this issue but it was a great introduction to story line.

    more from this reviewer

High recommended - I herd that this was coming.

I have enjoyed the first two installments. I like the way the doctor's tardis got on to. the Enterprise. The two foes have joined forces: borg and cybermen . Now with the third part shows kirk! I plan to see show he can help with this problem.

    Lots of fun!

This is a nice blend of Star Trek and Dr. Who. Great first issue and setup for the series. The artwork is outstanding. The last page is definitely a keeper. Bring on issue #2!

    Fun to read

This is the first in a series. The books are fun for Trekies and fans of the Doctor. Even if you aren't into one or the other, they make a great read.

    Very imaginative story

I would have given the comic 5 stars but the lettering is very small and I have to enlarge it. When you enlarge the page you lose the ability to look at the page as a whole; instead I can only look at bits and pieces at a time. Kinda takes away from the experience.
