Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
The new, expanded guide to vehicles and vessels in the Star Wars universe includes machines and spaceships featured in the movies The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones as well as the New Jedi Order novels. Highlighting more than 150 vessels featured throughout the Star Wars movies, novels, comics, and video games, this updated reference guide is a Star Wars fan's dream come true. From the formidable At-At (Imperial All Terrain Armored Transport Walker) to the massive bio-engineered Yuuzhan Vong Worldship, each entry includes full-color illustrations and schematics, as well as a detailed history of the vehicle.

Author W. Haden Blackman says it best in the introduction: "That the vehicles of Star Wars are able to engender emotion is part of the saga's tremendous appeal. Boba Fett's Slave I is menacing, reflecting his disposition; Imperial Star Destroyers display the Emperor's power with a single visual outline; and the [Millennium] Falcon is a crucial member of the heroic home team. All these vessels linger in our minds because we connect to them as more than just plastic models or computer-generated images; they feel real."

Also included are a list of major manufacturers, detailed information about vehicle classes, and engine and weapon technologies, as well as a short history of historic battles in the Star Wars timeline. This New Essential Guide to Vehicles & Vessels will be an invaluable addition to any Star Wars fan's library. Paul Goat Allen

    So many ships!

I have watched Star Wars movies for years now. With Revenge of the Sith out, the sage is compelte. With these movies, and the expanded universe, come a variety of vessels. This book covers almost all of them. I gave this book 4 stars, and it would have received 5 if not for one thing, the Death Star is not included. How do you write a book on Star Wars vessels, and not include the Death Star?
