On the opening page of this compilation, readers are reminded that "The events in this story take place approximately 3,964 years before the Battle of Yavin." Even though the action occurs before the traditional Star War s saga, those familiar only with the first Star Wars characters won't feel lost: these stories are peopled with characters that represent the same worlds and situations laid down in the original framework. Zayne Carrick is one of five padawan who are about to take part in a ceremony to see which of them will be knighted, and Zayne thinks he has no chance because he is totally inept. The Mandolorian War is heating up and the Jedi council is split on whether to join or not. It is an exciting time and about to get more so. The "Knights of the Old Republic" stories explore the motives and reasoning that add a gray area to the black and white, good and bad, of Jedi versus Sith that the original stories lack. The artwork is colorful and kinetic. This book is a thrill ride not to be missed, a nonstop action story that will captivate readers.

A great start to a great story. People familiar with the game of the same name will be in for a lot of treats and surprises, but even guys who've never heard of it will find something to enjoy about this book. Great characters, a thrilling story; this book has got it all!

The blockbuster video game, Knights of the Old Republic, was a fantastic addition to the Star Wars universe, and upon completing it, I never expected anything to quite compare to it. Well, in terms of novels, and in terms of films, I have been pleasently surprised, but in terms of graphic novels, this particular comic is worthy of the KOTOR name. Padawan Zayne Carrick flees the wrath of those who he trusted since his birth, the Jedi Masters, who seek to murder him in order to stifle a prophecy that a Jedi of his generation would command a new generation of Sith. Confronting numerous obstacles both physical and ethical, Zayne and his fascinating group of companions, a crazy genius, a warrior woman, and an ex-con man, grapple their way through this thrilling adventure that will grip you from the first page. May the Force be with you!

Of all the charecters in the Star Wars universe, Zayne Carrick is one of the most unique and endearing. Action, intrigue and dynamic characters, Knights of the Old Republic has everything that made the original Star Wars such a classic. Brian Ching's art is spectacular and sets the tone of the story perfectly. Knights of the Old Republic ties into the game of the same name, but is just as accessible to people who are new to Star Wars. This book is a must have for any Star Wars or comic fan!
