Overview

In hiding for generations, the evil Sith have waited for the precise moment to reveal themselves and take vengeance upon the Jedi Order. But in the final days before the Trade Federation blockade of the planet Naboo sets into motion the Sith plan for the overthrow of the Republic, the scheming Sith Lord Darth Sidious becomes concerned about the potential interference by the criminal syndicate Black Sun, a vast and powerful organization feared throughout the galaxy. Sidious cannot allow anything or anyone to hinder his purpose, and so he unleashes his merciless apprentice, the death-dealing destroyer, Darth Maul, to eradicate his adversaries — as only a master of the dark side can! Star Wars: Darth Maul is the first-ever graphic-novel adventure of the ultimate Sith enforcer, an explosive tale of intrigue, mystery, and blistering action. Editorial Reviews

Star Wars: Darth Maul is the latest graphic novel set in the exciting and adventures universe of Star Wars science fiction. The result of a splendid collaborative effort by script writer Ron Marz, art team of Jan Duursema, Rick Magyar, Steve Dutro, and Dave McCaig (as well as cover artist Drew Struzan), Star Wars: Darth Maul takes up the "prequel" story of the Sith apprentice with a demonic appearance, a mastery of the dark force, and a lethal ability with a two-bladed light saber. Sent by his master to take out the leadership of Black Sun (a universe spanning organized crime network) in order to further complex plans toward seizing the Empire for the Sith Lore who would one day become Emperor. A special feature of this totally engaging graphic novel is the use of multiple panels to show an action sequence in a kind of "movie still frame" sequencing that is very effective. Combined with an original story with multiple layers of storytelling, memorable characters, and non-stop action, Star Wars: Darth Maul, is a "must" for all Star Wars fans, and clearly demonstrates and documents why the Star Wars universe continues to hold such wide spread appeal and enduring popularity.

This was a great graphic novel. I really enjoyed seeing Darth Maul develop more as a character since his part in Episode I was not that big. A must read for Star Wars fans and non Star Wars fans alike.

Star Wars: Darth Maul is the best graphic novel and comic I have read so far and Darth Maul happens to be my favorite character in the Star Wars universe. The book gives more background on the notorious Sith Lord including his final Sith Trial and first ever mission as Apprentice of the evil faction. There is little Black Sun can do agaist the seemingly unstoppable one man juggernaught that is Darth Maul. It is a page turner from start to finish and at the end you're going to be salivating for more. I would like to see a story about Maul and his adventures during the events in SW Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Anyway, as for the novel excellent story, pace of action and superb artwork. Definitely worthy of 5 stars.
