Star Wars: 1,000 Collectibles takes the reader on a journey through cool and kitsch, from toys and costumes to life-size statues made of LEGO bricks to consumer goods such as candy, clothing, toothpaste--and much more. Drawn from the largest private Star Wars collection in the known universe, this stunning treasure trove of memorabilia and colorful anecdotes mixes fun with nostalgia, delighting both the casual fan and the serious collector. Since the first Star Wars film opened in 1977, George Lucas's epic space fantasy has become not only one of the most successful entertainment franchises of all time, but also an obsession for collectors around the globe, who have spent more than $15 billion on Star Wars merchandise.

These collectibles range from the offbeat--C-3PO tape dispensers, fan-made bantha pinatas, and Darth Vader popcorn poppers--to the everyday--Boba Fett cake pans, Yoda PEZ dispensers, and "Cream of Jawa" soup. Here for the first time is a chronicle of the constantly expanding, all-encompassing, often-surreal lifestyle of collecting Star Wars--filled with incredible stranger-than-fiction stories from the galaxy's foremost collector.

I'm a Star Wars fan, but not a collector, so I wouldn't immediately think that this book was for me. It is.

All of these items are from the collection of Stephen J. Sansweet (the largest private collector of Star Wars memorabilia in the world) which he lovingly houses in a place called Rancho Obi-Wan, a former chicken ranch. Each item in this collection has a story, and many of them are told in this amazing book. Not just about why an item is collectible, or what makes it so rare, but also how Stephen acquired it, which is sometimes even more interesting. And while I recognize many of these items from my childhood up until now, there are quite a few which are one-of-a-kind or even prototypes which were never produced. I love this thing, interesting and funny, I was mesmerized the entire time. Don't you want to see the collection of the guy who owns 4-Lom's crotch? Of course you do!

Amazing "Tour" of the MOST AWESOME Star Wars Collection in the GALAXY!

If you were to look up the definition of "COLLECTOR" in the dictionary, you would see a picture of Steve Sansweet! He has the largest personal collection of "EVERYTHING" Star Wars and he showcases his best and most unique pieces through photos. And as an added bonus, he writes some great backstories on how he obtained certain "one-of-a-kind" pieces. If you are a Star Wars collector...you need to buy this book! If you aren't a Star Wars collector...you will still be amazed by how thorough and passionate Steve Sansweet is as a collector! Steve Sansweet is the "Master Jedi" of Star Wars collecting and he proves it in a well written and designed book!
