Unfaithful Portrayal of the Characters Drags this otherwise decent book through the mud

The basic plot concept is quite good, but the characters are so far from those depicted in the show and movies that I was constantly rolling my eyes at their ridiculous displays of emotion. I can understand that they are in an emotional situation and under a lot of stress, but these characters simply don't react this way to these things.

Too much crying, too much whining, just too much. Like I said, the concept behind their mission and the situation they are in is believable, even interesting, but the execution is way off.

The worst part? This is a common problem for this author and she is responsible for the majority of Stargate SG-1 novels. I do not recommend this unless you found the characters in the show/movies to be wooden and devoid of emotion. And if you did, you were probably watching a transmission from bizarro world :/
