Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Naomi Milliner
This entry in the "DC Super-Pets!" series features Big Ted, Dawg, Starros—and a whole lot of exclamation points! Big Ted is gifted with superb sight, speedy flight, and sharp talons—all the better to catch those evildoer types. Dawg is equipped with tracking skills and a thick skull. The starfish-shaped Starros have the most impressive ability, though: mind control. The plot (such as it is) revolves around missing Space Dolphins believed to be stolen. It turns out they were kidnapped by Starro, leader of the Starros. His motive? To control the dolphins' minds so they perform their beautiful music for him, and him alone. After all, their concerts are always sold-out. If you can get past the silly plot and two-dimensional characters, you will find the backmatter: two pages of eighty hero and villain pets; a bio of the author/illustrator, and definitions for eight of the more challenging words. The illustrations are fun and colorful, but the story is so convoluted not even the DC Super-Pets, or hundreds of exclamations, can save it. Reviewer: Naomi Milliner

Starro and the Space Dolphins  Have you ever seen space freaks that are talented? Well you should read “Starro and the Space Dolphins” by Art Baltazar. One day in space our superheroes are just wandering until they met a new superhero. He said, “someone stole my space dolphins, they could sing very very well.” The superheroes teamed up. Until they could get in the space ship a mind controlling Starro landed on the new superheroes face -  zoom!!!  - went the new superhero. The other heros followed him to another planet that looks like the moon.   The planet was full of Starros!   Hawk man, one of the superheroes, told Dawg and Ted, the super pets to go ahead. The super pets found the leader they asked, “Why are you causing all this all this trouble?"   If you want to know what happened then you should read "Starro and the Space Dolphins," By: Omid F.
