Overview

Do Christina and Star have what it takes to win the third jewel in the Triple Crown?

As the third race in the Triple Crown approaches, the competition for Christina Reese and her horse, Wonder's Star, is getting tougher. Christina is nervous and she's afraid the pressure is affecting Star's concentration. But the tension unexpectedly eases when Christina meets a jockey familiar with the legendary 1977 Triple Crown winner, Seattle Slew. It seems Star and Seattle Slew have lots in common. Buoyed by the jockey's invaluable advice – and the support of her family and friends – Christina feels ready to win at Belmont! The question is will Star come through?

It was all right, but, it seems like EVERY horse in the TB series just HAS to win the Triple Crown. Wonder did, Pride did, and so on. Now Star is? It's an ever going pattern.

This book is just as amazing as all the others! I agree as some of the other reviewer say, that Christina needs to grow up. I think she is slowly.I enjoy these books so much and I would like to own them ALL someday. Brad is way my fav. character he ROCKS! Dude, Christina and Parker just need to stop messing around and get married!

Well, this book was good. And to all of you people who think that the horses that they are about always win their races, what about Perfect Challenge and Breaking the fall?Image didn`t win the Florida Derby, and Star came in 2nd in the Breeders Cup Classi. though I do admit, that doesn`t happen a lot But anyway, I thought that Star's Inspiration was really good. I think that Star should have won the Triple Crown. And it would have been cool if Wonders Star was a filly. But thats just my oppinion.

Star's Insipration was okay, although there are other books in the Thoroughbred series that I've liked better.

I could not put the book down, it really kept me reading. The whole series did that to me!

Jean Cruguet was Slew's jockey for his two- and three-year-old seasons (so that would be the Triple Crown). I could have sworn that he was dead but that only Angel Cordero Jr., who only became Slew's jockey the next year, was alive.

Everyone is constantly talking about Christina and Star, Melanie and Image, Brad and Celtic Mist...have we not forgotten somebody? CINDY MCLEAN!! In my oppionion, no horse and rider could get through as many 'difficulties' as Chris and Star. I love Mel & Image but not as much as Cindy. And i just plain dont like Brad. Cindy had it hard all her life and is finally getting it all together and i think that they should be doing better over all. I also agree that the books have DEFINATELY gone downhill and i am very reluctant to read the rest of the series because i am getting very fed-up with them!

Well... this book was pretty good... better than some. My only question is about the ' brush' with Slew's jockey... unless i missed something- Chris never even met him.... The owner ( Karen i think... ) told Chris of the things he said bout riding Slew... but she never really met him... i just thought this was odd. I'm reallllllly excited bout Sam having a baby. But in a way i hope that the series is not about the baby. no offense :) but sam and tor are into jumping. The thoroughbred series are ment for racing. I did not like the book when they were bout chris and parker jumping. I just hope that if hte series turns to the baby that it isnt about jumping. And im hopin that Chris or Cindy or Mel will have a baby. Or chris & mel will get their own farm and the series will continue that way. Well bye! oh yea. and im happy that star won! gotta go watch the real Belmont now!

I don't think they should have named this book 'Star's Inspiration' since they talk about Seattle Slew for 2 pages and that's it. I also think they should make the cover more realistic. Some of them don't resemble the characters at all! I can't wait til #60 comes out!

I agree with another reviewer- Just because Christina talks to some person does not give her the ability to win the race. And simply because many of you think that Christina and Star DESERVE to win the race doesn't mean that they can. They talked about that in the last book, there are other horses out there, just because you think they deserve it doesn't mean they should get it. I personally DO NOT like Christina and Star is ok, but he should have be retired a long time ago, his 'story' is a bit of a reach if you ask me... And i don't think that they deserve this race at all. Christina is such a spoiled and jealous snob who has to get her own way all the time. She REALLY needs to grow up.

These books are great. It gives you mixed emotions on things and things happen that you didnt expect, thats what keeps the series going and new characters. Thats what makes the Thoughroughbred series amazing! I think they should start having new characters like they did with Ashley. Make Christina a mom or something, they need to move on with new ppl. The covers are needing some help. The covers are starting to not have anything to do with the stories. But over all, the stories are great! I wish Joanna Campbell the best of luck in her future stories.

I have been passionatally reading the Thoroughbred books ever since, perhaps, I was eight years old. But my love for them has dimmed... they all seem sloppily composed, dragging on the series simply to make money, throwing them together where often times I find myself reluctantly placing the Thoroughbred books back on the shelves. Perhaps they are suitable for younger children than I - but it is hard not to notice, even in youth, that many of the horses are forgotten and then suddenly spurred back into the books. I can count many faults; the covers, often making a wrong look of the horse that is totally diffrent than the one before who was the same horse, sypnosis's that do not match. (For example, a scarf on Christina in #60, as she resembles riding a pony; another example, in Hoofprints in the Snow - does Lyssa not live in Montana?) I an reluctant to pass each book by, though I buy the next in the series with simple faith again and again. Why are they bringing in these realistic horses? What did Affirmed have to do with anything in the previous books? What happened to Glory, and Cindy's love for him? And Honor? And Fleet Goddess, and Wonder's only filly? What about them? I think, that by the hinting of all the 'fine horses' that are now at Whitebrook, they are going to change characters and gears into them soon. But what about the other horses we have so dreamed about, have they simply vanished into oblvion? Perhaps I will pass up the next book - with such utter exasperation.

I am really excited for this book I hope star wins the Belmont. They really deserve it. I have all 58 books and I am soo ready to continue.I think all horse lovers would love this series. When I finish highschool in 5 years I would like to move to Kentucky and start my own carreer as a Jockey and successful farm owner and maybe someday race in the Triple Crown. All because of my love for horses and this series.

this book sounds really stupid. i mean chris just talked to some famous wierdo in the last book and it didnt do her any good then. she still lost. thats ok though i dont want her to win. Star is so wierd. he should come in last! Celtic Mist should win if Image is out! only cause brad saved image though. Image should have beaten them all!! she deserved to win! Image is the best horse in the series. exept wonder cause well its wonder

i hope Christina and star win the belmont. They deserve it soo much more then any other horse. Also i think Christina and Parker should get back together i mean its obvious they still like each other. Also isnt star supossed to have a heart on his forehead instead of a diamond?

I have all the thoroughbred books and I love them. But I must agree, they do need to work on the covers. I think they are running out of ideas.

Personally, I think that the illistrations have been pretty ugly. 57 was an OK cover but 58 was just a little way to fake looking. I think that this cover is pretty good though. You can see detail and all, not at all like 58's animated looking cover. Well I guess that your not supposed to judge the book by its cover. The books are great- but I think that the covers could use a little improvement.
