STARSTRUCK lives up to the power of its title. Like M, I too was the nerdy girl in a small town school who never quite fit in.
Accomplished author Brenda Hiatt has captured well the themes of a great coming-of-age story: identity, one's place in the social
structure, the need to love and be loved, and the certain knowledge that the adults in one's life simply don't understand.

From high school social politics to interstellar political drama, Hiatt takes us on a star-studded journey to identify the real M.
Complete with a star quarterback named Rigel and a story of star-crossed lovers, this novel will be a satisfying fantasy read for
every "ordinary" girl who, like M, dreams of becoming more. Fans of TWILIGHT and HARRY POTTER may hear faint echoes of their
favorite scenes and will find new favorite scenes to join them.

Read and enjoy! You too may become STARSTRUCK.

I loved how this fresh story kept surprising me. Marsha's character engaged me right from the first page and each chapter end made me want to turn another page to find out what would happen to her next! I really liked how believable all the characters were. When does the next book in this series come out?

    Absolutely exceptional!

I love books that are paranormal. This book reminded me of one of my favorite authors, only it took an idea and made it exceptional. I love the story line and all of the characters!
I don't know really how else to describe this book except you will enjoy it immensely!

A Great Addition to YA Paranormal Fiction

A wonderful story and some very interesting concepts make this not only a good YA book, but just a good book for everyone! Brenda really makes this one her own. There are sequels now. I can't wait to read them all!

    Trying to finish this...

I'm trying to finish this book, really I am but it is just soooo lame!! I had read the good reviews and thought it would be a good love story, but it just is dragging. The story goes on and on about all the boring details of school life and classes before it ever even begins to get to the story line. Trust me let this one pass you by, I will not get any second or third to this set!!

Hiatt develops the world surrounding this novel so naturally that even the most implausible situation seems not only plausible but completely and utterly possible.  I was so wrapped up in this story that I could think of nothing else.  At the same time, I had to take a step back, thinking ‘could you just imagine.’  And was my imagination ever running wild.  This novel is written in such a manner that it is approachable to a teen audience but also won’t turn off older readers.  Hiatt kept me guessing and kept me entertained throughout.

You really get to know the main characters in this novel inside and out.  It’s quite a revealing experience and makes the novel much more personal for the reader.  I also appreciated the fact that the characters were high school students written like high school students.  There wasn’t some large discrepancy between what their lives should be and what they are, well, except for the Martian bit.  The supporting cast was also quite intriguing.  They were all such unique individuals that it made the cast seem like a real community.

As a whole, this was a brilliant introduction to the series.  I can’t wait to get my hands on the next instalment.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

    Top of the line plot

Brenda Hiatt's 'Starstruck' is an undeniably good first book to the series and really captivates the mind and pulls you into the story like you are there with Marsha or 'M' and Rigel as they work through the struggles of their love that isn't supposed to be as well as her personal struggles as people try to kill her. It is a must read that I recomend for girls of all ages who want a good love story, and even people who want a little si-fi.

Allyshia: my weird dreams(not all of them though)

Once I dreamed that I was a demigod & Percy dumped Annabeth for me because I saved his life three times in the same day. Then Annabeth & the other missing demigods reappear but they're on Luke's side instead of ours & Annabeth is Luke's girlfriend. Another time I dreamed that Luke kidnapped Percy & lured me to his hideout then ambushed me & made Percy watch while he kissed me. Then he snapped his fingers & me & Percy turned into posionous snakes with human heads & we bite Luke all over & he starts convulsing as he slowly dies. Yet another time i dreamed I was reading the first Eragon book & I was suddenly sucked into the story. I was his best friend. We're both good hunters & I always dressed like a boy. We'd practically grown up together but we were slowly becoming more than just best friends when suddenly we find not one but two "stones" while hunting in the Spine: one blue, one silver. Of course they both hatch & turn out to be blue & silver baby female dragons. The blue one of course is Eragon's dragon Saphira but the silver one is my dragon Menielia. Then suddenly, Eragon & I are suddenly transported to the world of Star Wars where we help Obi-Wan & Anakin win a major fight & then we go back to Eragon's world & live happily eve after as Dragon Riders & life partners. &#9825Pretty weird, right?&#9825Allyshia&#9825
