    Start! NKJV

As a blogger for Thomas Nelson publishers, I had the opportunity to review Start! The Bible for New Believers NKJV (New King James Version). Specifically, the NKJV is an update of the traditional KJV, but without the antique phrases such as "thy, thou or art". It is accurate and trustworthy in contrast to being a paraphrase such as the New Living Bible or the Message. As far as a choice of translation for a bible for new believers, I believe there are perhaps better, more easy to read choices available. Furthermore, the font size is a bit too small and is a strain to read for lengthy periods of time.

As far as bible translations, there is a spectrum of the ease of reading of a particular translation ranging from beginner/ easy reading levels such as the message and more complex/ literal such as the King James version, and revised standard version. For example, the popular NIV- New International Version, is somewhere in the middle with regard to ease of reading level and undertsanding. The NKJV - New King James Version, in particular, is a bit more literal and is written in somewhat of a higher reading level. Nevertheless, this NKJV is an easy to understand version as well. For those new to the bible entirely, The Message and Living bible as well as NIV versions are easy to read and understand, and are very good options for those who seek to understand the meaning of the bible.

Difficult to read versions such as the Old King James - though very well written, do a disservice to the modern or new bible reader. The antique language is difficult for many in this day to understand on their own and makes it prohibitive for many to understand the truths of the bible. Having known many readers of the KJV, who do not even understand the meaning of what they read- indicates that this is not the best translation for those who really seek to know God's word. What is the point of a bible after all if you can not even undertsand it? For those new to the bible or for those who have a difficult to read translation such as the King James Version, who wish to read the bible and actually understand it, I would suggest one of the bible versions with more modern/ contemporary language. While the NKJV is relatively easy to read, it may present a challange to the literacy level of many modern adults.

Overall, this bible, merits a good rating as it is a good trust worthy translation with many additional informational helps for the new bible reader. I recieved a copy of this bible for the purpose of review.

Start! The Bible For New Believers, NKJV

This Bible is a Bible geared toward new believers and includes features such as key disciplines of a Christian life, core beliefs of Christians and messages focuses on aspects of salvation. The Bible also contains an Essentials section, which includes important things that all Christians should know about Jesus and God. This Bible is a New King James Version.
Overall, I would say that this Bible is a very practical tool for any new believer: The study tools seem to be very helpful for a somebody learning about the Christian life, and it also helps them to know how to put their new faith into action. The Bible itself does not seem very durable, with it being a paperback Bible, and it might not last very long if the owner of the Bible travels with it. I also think that it would be helpful if the font were larger, making it easier to read. I do like how each book of the Bible has an introduction page, and it is fairly easy to find because of the bright red arrow on it. Overall, I would recommend this Bible to new believers. I also think that it has some interesting stuff for more mature believers as well.

    definitely recommended.

although i am born as Christian, and i was baptized since small, i have to confess i never ever finish reading a bible! bible always confused me. i guess this is the book that most popular in the world and yet the least understand book!
this Start! the bible for new believers, NKJV, is not really only for new believers but for every believers that think they need an easier to digest bible. in the beginning of every chapter, there would be brief introduction about the chapter. i found that additional features in this Bible that are titled grow ,know , live and learn messages peppered throughout this Bible very helpful for the new Christian and old Christian alike who still not familiar with the bible. the additional feature make the bible less intimidating.
i rate this book 5 of 5 star of course bible is the best book in this world because its enriching soul and answer life difficult question.
