Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kristin Harris
Craft books open up a world of creativity. Beads have been of interest to humans for thousands of years and have played an important role in cultures around the world. Step one to getting involved in beading is to collect a selection of beads, stringing materials and tools. The projects are arranged in order of complexity, the first one being a simple beaded wire pendant. Safety pin beading has become popular and what follows are instructions for a safety pin bracelet. Each step in the process is detailed with text and a small photo. Rings, necklaces and bracelets are not the only projects. Learn how to make bead decorations for a wooden box or bead a small purse. A bead loom is used to make friendship bracelets. Richly illustrated with photographs of pre-teen girl, clearly the intended audience for this book. The instructional photographs would be much more helpful if they were larger and easier to decipher. Solid color backgrounds frequently interfere with good visibility. Reviewer: Kristin Harris
