This story covers the weeks of cheerleading practice and tryouts before the final decision is made. Various subplots swirl around the central conflict: Olivia, last year's returning veteran, is not sure that she wants to try out again. This conflict leads to heart palpitations, brought on by the stress of this crucial decision. After moaning and palpitating for 22 chapters, she makes a remarkable recovery and becomes captain. This one is from the ``Sweet Valley High'' school of plot resolutionthe ends are tied up neatly, if abruptly, in the last ten pages.

This was a wonderful book. It had lots of adjectives, emotion, joy, and sorrow. I really enjoyed the book when Olivia starts getting nervous about her relationship with Walt.
