As the authors point out, the vast majority of us dream, at one time or another, of starting our own business and being our own boss. The Sloan brothers offer a refreshing take on the subject. Where other books simply dive into the technical aspects of pursuing your dream of starting up a business, the authors take the time to point out how vital it is to take stock of yourself and analyze your own skills before ever thinking about tackling a business plan (which they cover skillfully as well). Recommended reading if you've ever felt the lure of 'starting it up'.

I work full-time but have always dreamed of owning my own business, but now I finally got the guts to start the process. I didn't realize it was so much work! This book, however, has been a lifesaver! I found it browsing online a few weeks ago and I've taken it as a sign to keep going. These guys have explained the intricacies of starting a business in a way that was easy and fun to read. I now have my basic plan in place and I'm adding the details as I go. I know, after reading this book and hearing about others that have done it - that I can do it, too. I am truly inspired and fired up!

I've been an entrepreneur for the past 20 years and I couldn't agree more with the Sloan brothers' mantra of planning your life first & then you can plan your dream business. I still assess my life annually so that I can have the confidence to continue with my business or make changes as my life situation changes. So chapter 3 is my favorite. It's also really inspiring to read the stories of the 5 Super Startups. Way to go brothers Sloan - now I know what to get all the fathers I know for Father's Day!
