Too much paper piecing for me

Seven of the 13 projects in STASH MAGIC are done in paper piecing. I don't do well with this technique. The projects are very pretty and look great when done but the technique and I just don't get along. Of the six projects that aren't paper piecing, they just aren't something that strikes my fancy either. All in all, not a good book for me.

Having said that, the templates are included for the paper piecing projects and if you are good at it, this would be a good book to add to your library. The Attic Window Batiks quilt really is beautiful and the Floral View quilt would let you work with large floral patterns. Each project has a color photo, the finished project and block size and the instructions for the project are well written. There are not as many graphics as quilt books that don't contain paper piecing have and that is most likely due to the fact that the "graphics" are in the templates. Just follow the template and you've got it.

All in all, I would only purchase this book if you want to do paper piecing projects.

    I Also Recommend:

This book helps you make the most of your fabric collection with beautiful quilts.

These days anything that can help make the most of our dollars is at least worth a look. I took a chance on this book and was not disappointed. It was helpful by showing how to use what you have. Scraps from your friends, your own extras-never throw them out. Always save them because you never know when they may come in handy. That being said, always use quality cotton fabrics to avoid the heartbreak of shrinkage or bleeding fabric dyes.

The wrought iron fence project is lovely and one of my favorites.

I think you will enjoy this book. A must for any quilter who is trying to make the most of what you have.
