Stranded in the middle of nowhere, you have to fight to survive!

When the bus carrying a group of kids home from summer camp breaks down on an abandoned road during a heatwave, things go from bad to worse very quickly. There's nobody around to help. Sixty miles back the way they came in camp. Sixty miles the opposite direction is the highway. Neither direction is the source of much hope. With no way to call for help, this group must ride it out and survive the elements. Will they make it through?

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Rosa Roberts
In this third installation of the “Breakdown” series, there are four distinctive survival tips provided: preparation, signaling, calm, and survival mentality. In this book, a group of kids are trying to get back home from summer camp when the van they are traveling in breaks down on a deserted road. Not only are the kids stranded in the middle of nowhere—sixty miles from camp and sixty miles from the nearest highway—but they are also in the midst of a heat wave in Minnesota along with a black out that has taken place throughout the area. The kids must learn how to survive and get help but how will they be able to manage to stay alive? This book engages young readers, encouraging them to read on to find out if the kids will manage to survive in this breakdown. There are mistakes made along the way but one will find out how it all turns out for the adolescents on this adventurous journey. This book is fast-paced and will not disappoint young readers. Reviewer: Rosa Roberts; Ages 9 to 12.
