Overview

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You and Be with Me comes a daring tale that pushes boundaries . . .

At 21, Calla hasn't done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should.   She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought shed left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from they moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn't give them her mom.

Jax, a soldier devastated by his experiences in Afghanistan, meets Calla, scarred by the fire that killed her siblings, and the rest is romance. The first two books in Lynn's new adult "Wait for You" series were both New York Times best sellers, so great expectations—and the 100,000-copy first printing—aren't unreasonable.

“There is a reason J. Lynn will always be one of my go-to authors. She never disappoints.”

If I'm being perfectly honest, I'm not convinced Jen can write a bad book. Ever. She's one of my favorite authors and I've loved every single book she's written, in one way or another. Her characters are wonderful and I can't help but fall in love with them. Whether she's writing as J. Lynn or JLA, young adult or new adult, contemporary or paranormal, I can almost guarantee I'm going to fall in love. I had high expectations for Stay With Me and she exceeded every one of them.  Stay With Me is Calla's story. Calla hasn't had an easy life. Her mom is an addict. She was the victim of a fire that left her with a lot of scars and a lack of self-esteem. She's got great friends (most of whom we've met earlier in this series) and is enjoying college. Her life is turned upside down when she learns her mom has wiped her accounts clean and she no longer has the money to continue on in school. Hell bent on getting her life back on track, she heads home to confront her mom and get her money back. It's there she meets Jax, a bartender at her mom's bar, and this heroine starts to star in her own story, instead of continuing on in a supporting role in the story of others.  I loved the dynamic between Calla and Jax from the beginning. It was obvious he saw her as more than the girl with the scars. He was worried about her getting mixed up in all the things her mom was into. She, of course, wasn't interested in his concern. She was a girl on a mission. But, as more and more of her mom's secrets, associations and debts came to light, things got real REAL quick and Jax helped Calla deal with all of it. He was a great source of support for her, and more importantly, he helped her see the woman underneath the scars. With Jax's help and attention, she realized she was worthy of the affection she'd been craving while watching her friends and their relationships.  Jax just might be my new favorite of the guys in J. Lynn's Wait for You series. A former Marine, he was smoking hot, super protective of those he cared about, smart and sexy as sin. He was a bit naughty and completely drool-worthy. He's a perfect addition to the "hot guy brigade."  Jen has done it again. The romance was wonderful. The sexy times were hot. There was a healthy dose of drama and some moments that had me on the edge of my seat. As I expected, there were plenty of feels, too. I loved the glimpse we got into the lives of Cam and Avery and Jase and Teresa. I love these couples so much. It was great to catch up with them and watch as their happily ever afters continue. This is new adult at its very best and if you're not reading this series, you're definitely missing out. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

This was painfully long and the language was immature. "Holy granola!" When receiving oral.... give me a break. Lame.

I have really enjoyed reading the books in this series so far except for this one. I was disppointed that there was no pov for Jax but other than that, I did not care much for the first part of this book. Calla was just so emotionally immature and so dense that she just got on my nerves. Regardless of what Clyde, Jax, and the others told her as to how things really were, she just had no common sense about how to do anything. The second half of the book finally picked up but it was already too late for me to really like this book. I did like how the book showed that a person does not have to have a "perfect" body in order for somebody else to like them. The plot had real potential with the message it was trying to get out but Calla just didn't cut it for me, therefore the book fell kind of short for. I just hope the next book in this series is much better.

I really enjoyed this book. Unlike a lot of NA books the female lead was not an overly obsessive push over.

Did not bother finishing this book. The female lead was so annoying with her tiresome endless expressions. Her overuse of the word 'hot' was unbelievable . She should have been devastated at her mother's betrayal and her destroyed financial situation, but all she could focus on was the "hotness" of the bartender. Give me a break. The book reviews sounded so good which is why I bought this book. I will never again buy anything by this author. Maybe a really young person would appreciate this book. Not something that has much substance for a book discussion.

I should know by now I'm going to fall in love with the characters in a Jennifer Armentrout (J. Lynn) book by the end of the first chapter. It's inevitable. Calla won me over first, but Jax wasn't far behind. Not only are the characters wonderful, but the story always is too. She always manages to do justice to the situations and challenges the characters find themselves in. It was really easy to fall in love with Calla and Jax. I fell for Calla first and her I-will-find-a-way-out-of-this-mess attitude her mother dropped her in. I don't know if I would be that strong if it happened to me. I would be a mess, but she only let it momentarily phase her before she went looking for answers. Of course she didn't find the ones she was looking for but instead found more questions and lots of trouble she didn't deserve or need. Thankfully Jax was there to help her out with the mess she found herself in. I loved how he saw all of Calla and liked what he saw. Calla had lots of issues to deal with and the way he helped her work through them was totally swoon worthy. I liked how honest and upfront he was with her when it came to his attraction to her. I mean it totally shook her up, but it was good for her. It goes without saying Jax and Calla had amazing chemistry. You could see it and feel it whenever they were together. I loved how the book portrayed the importance of family, both blood and that forged by life and friendship. Whether it was Katie, Roxy, Uncle Clyde, Avery, Teresa, Cam, and Jase being there for Calla or Reese and Nick for Jax, it really felt like these two who'd always been outsiders found people who cared for them. I've got to say the romantic suspense aspect was written really well. There was hardly a dull moment in this book. Scratch that, there were no dull moments in the book. There were lots of surprises and heart pounding moments though. From the first page to the last page, I was hooked. I think I read the book in just under three hours. I couldn't help myself. And let me talk about the feelings for a moment. You know how when you're reading and you're into the story, certain reactions become instinctive? Well I had plenty of those moments where I either burst out laughing or was in tears. Neither Jax nor Calla have had easy lives and as they shared their painful pasts, it was often impossible for me to hold back my tears. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book with Roxy and Reese. Their chemistry in this book was palpable and I have no doubt Jennifer Armentrout is going to blow my mind once again. She's managed to keep each book in this series fresh, independent of each other, and yet closely bound as well. Like I said, the woman has mad story telling skills. Pick up Stay With Me and see for yourself.

I don't even know where to begin with this book. This was most definately the best book I have read in a very long time. It was extremely well written. I loved Jax. I loved Calla. I loved all of the characters, the author really let us inside their lives and made us, me, feel like I actually knew them. Every scene was believable to me. Calla is such a strong girl and she isn't a typical, naive character. I can't wait to read it again and read more from this author. I HIGHLY recommend.

Another great read by J Lynn. Each bookinthis series keeps you intrigued and turning pages! Calla is a girl with a broken past. Drug addict mother... absent father... and physical and emotional scars you wouldn't believe. She's a strong female lead in her own right. Jax is a hottie with a past of his own. He's an unofficial member of the Hot Guy Brigade. He's strong, protective, and an all around good guy. I was happy to see them grow and help each other. There was definitrely drama in this one! It was fun to watch the events unfold. And of course Cam & Avery and Theresa & Jase are there too!
