Overview

Hundreds of lighthouses dot the coastlines of North America, but only a few offer guest accommodations and invite people to spend the night. Staying at a Lighthouse visits more than twenty-five of these unique overnight havens and provides a personal tour of these sought-after landmarks. Here are places where the expression "We'll leave the light on for you" takes on a whole new meaning! A few operate as grand bed-and-breakfast inns; others are spartan and offer a rustic experience. Still others allow visitors to assume the role of lighthouse keeper for a short time. All provide a memorable and renewing experience for anyone with a yen to get away from it all--romantics, lighthouse aficionados, history enthusiasts. Each profile includes a brief history of the lighthouse, a description of the accommodations and guest experience, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail address, directions, rates, and more.
