Overview

Zoe Brown may have been voted Most Likely to Never Leave River Bend, but the paper-thin walls and suffocating air of her family’s double-wide trailer were not what she wanted for her life. Other than BFFs Melanie and Jo, the only thing that kept Zoe sane during high school was her boyfriend, Luke.

She didn’t just leave, she escaped—turning her back on the shame of her black-sheep siblings and imprisoned dad. Now a celebrity chef in Dallas, she can afford all the things she never could have growing up. But when she returns to rustic, ruggedly beautiful River Bend, Zoe has to face all that she abandoned—including Luke.

While Luke was a refuge for Zoe in the past, he knows they inhabit totally different worlds now. Anchored by his parents and his job as a mechanic in his father’s shop, Luke never felt the urge to leave River Bend—until Zoe’s return.

But when the two rekindle their old flame, Zoe is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: remain in River Bend and confront her past before it destroys her, or say good-bye to everyone she’s ever loved…again, this time for good.

Bybee’s skillfully crafted second Most Likely To contemporary (after Doing It Over) brings together former sweethearts who have not forgotten each other in the 11 years since high school. Zoe has moved out of the small town of River Bend, Ore., and is a nationally famous chef living in Dallas, Tex. She heads back to River Bend to participate in her friend Mel’s wedding festivities, which puts her in contact with Luke, the man she has never been able to forget. She’s also worried about her mother and younger siblings, and she encourages them to leave the shabby double-wide trailer where they had suffered abuse from her now incarcerated father. Soon bouts of family drama are interspersed with sizzling encounters with Luke, and she faces a momentous decision: return to her hometown or continue to live in Dallas. Bybee’s novel will draw the reader in from the very first page. A cast of multidimensional characters brings the story to life and promises enticing future installments. 4.5 Star Review Staying For Good (Most Likely To #2) by Catherine Bybee This is book 2 in what has come to be one of my favourite series. I had the pleasure of meeting the author, Catherine Bybee in Sydney last year and I was absolutely thrilled. This is Luke and Zoe's story and is a second chance at love which is fast becoming one of my favourite types of book to read. This series is like coming home to a family. We were able to catch up with Zoe's best friend Mel, her daughter Hope and Wyatt her fiancee, along with her other best friend Jo. One of my favourite characters from this series is Ms. Gina, the owner of the Bed & Breakfast in River Bend; she makes me laugh. Zoe has pulled herself up and out of the poor life that she had and is now an established and well known celebrity chef. Luke is the man she left behind, a motor mechanic who has always been content to stay in their home town. Although they have unresolved feelings for each other, neither are prepared to move on. Luke has always and still loves Zoe, but she is too scared to take a chance. When Mel and Wyatt's upcoming wedding leads to more trips back home, Zoe sees more and more of Luke who is determined to convince Zoe to take a leap of faith in their love and potential future. I really love the depth of the characters Ms. Bybee writes, they are not one dimensional, there is always that added layer. When trouble in the form of Zoe's ex-felon father returns to River Bend, she will do all she can to keep her family safe from him and his violent temper. Knowing that Luke and Mel and Jo support her her helps Zoe to face the trouble and the strained relationship with her family. This is a story of friendship and love;I would love to visit River Bend and the awesome group of friends that surround Zoe and Luke. This was another great book by Catherine Bybee and I look forward to the next book in the series.

4.5 Stars Book 2 in the Most Likely To Series and this is Luke and Zoe's story, but we also get to catch up with Jo, Mel, Wyatt as well as the adorable Hope. Zoe ran from Luke and her home town of River Bend many years ago but now it's time to visit because her best friend Mel is getting engaged to Luke's best friend Wyatt. Luke has never gotten over Zoe and now is his time to win her back. But life doesn't always run to plan and Zoe's father who is in jail is up for parole, will she run again..... What I loved about this second chance romance was the indepth history we got about Zoe's life and past in River Bend. As always this author gives you characters that you can't help falling in love with, friends and lovers who go out of their way to protect each other. I love this series and if you love small town romances this is a must read.

This is Zoe's story. You could feel the tension in the first book between Luke and Zoe, and they weren't even the focus of that book. Now, the is tension all over the place with Luke and Zoe seeing each other more and more. These two have some definite chemistry, but they also have very different lives across the country from each other. This was an addictive second chance romance with some side drama thrown in to keep things that much more interesting. I'm truly enjoying this series so far. This author knows how to keep her audience on their toes. The ARC of Staying for Good by Catherine Bybee was kindly provided to me by the publisher through NetGalley for review. The opinions are my own.

Having read the first book in the series I was really looking forward getting to know Zoe even better. She has had a hard start in life but with grit and smarts she’s managed to make herself a success. Although that doesn’t mean her rough childhood didn’t leave some scars. As great as she’s had it she’s finding it difficult to just let herself believe that she’s made it and that she’s able to relax her guard a little. She’s still convinced that it might all be taken away from her and she’ll be back at the bottom. And being in her hometown with her family stirs up all sorts of memories that are better left behind … and a few that are just that special and good. Zoe may have run away as fast and far as she could, but Luke is happy at home. He’s got a life that works for him, one that he’s happy with surrounded by friends and family. It took a lot out of Luke when Zoe left and seeing her again has stirred up a lot of feelings. And some of those give him with a feeling that he may be missing out on something not seeing the rest of the world. Plus, he’s thinking that maybe he’ll only find happiness with the girl who originally stole his heart. While there is a lot of Brown family drama, there isn’t all that much on the romantic side (which I was afraid there would be with Zoe and Luke’s history). Most second chance love stories are just packed full of hurt feelings, maybe some misunderstanding or miscommunication, but definitely a lot of angst. I shouldn’t have doubted Ms. Bybee’s talent, though, because she’s never failed me before so why should she now! Instead she gives readers her all with characters of great depth and humanity, emotions that run the guantlet, and crisp writing that captures your attention from the first page. She’s been one of my guaranteed authors for a while now – just seeing her name means I know it’ll be a winner – but with each new book she surprises me with how amazingly good she continues to be (While it isn’t necessary to have read Doing It Over, it will help to give you some context.) *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

STAYING FOR GOOD, the second book in Catherine Bybee's Most Likely To Series was every bit as good as the first book in the series. Zoe and Luke get their second chance to find out if the love they shared as teens in high school can last in the adult world. I loved Zoe! Her sassiness, her big heart, her ambition, and her drive to be anything but "the girl most likely to never leave River Bend" were admirable. She loves her family, her friends Mel and Jo, and she still loves her high school boyfriend Luke... but she wanted more than River Bend had to offer and she went for it. Making it big as a celebrity chef and has made a life for herself in Texas. But coming back to visit after ten years and spending time with her friends and Luke again has her rethinking her plans for the future. Luke is one sexy guy! It broke his heart when Zoe left since he'd planned to spend the rest of his life with his girl, but he understood and let her go. He's been good with the life he has in River Bend, at least until Zoe started coming back for visits. Now he's restless and not sure he's ready to give up on the life he wanted with the woman he wanted when he was just a teen. He's ready to go after his girl! Great book! Catherine Bybee never fails to write an enjoyable story that keeps me caught up right from the beginning. My emotions are all over the place as she blends in friendship, love and a little suspense. The dialogue is always witty, the storyline thorough and well-written, the fully-developed characters are likable and easy to imagine as being your neighbors or friends. I love her easygoing writing style and look forward to anything she writes. Staying For Good did not disappoint!! 4.5 stars ~Complimentary copy downloaded from NetGalley. A small hobunk town where everyone knows everyone’s business and your business isn’t all good, of course you want to escape and leave it all behind. That is exactly what Zoe wanted/needed to do. She had to escape, she had to put it all behind, even if that means the love of her life. I love Zoe. She has spunk, respect, and love. She takes what could be a dead end life with an abusive dad who is in jail and a mom who can’t get over him and escapes into a life of excitement, fulfillment, and loving what she does. The only hold up is that she can’t find love. I love when someone is so in love with someone that they can’t move past. They try, they have short meaningless relationships trying to find that happen ending they want, yet they can’t do it. They can’t give themselves to anyone other than the man who is meant to be theirs. Catherine Bybee did it again with Staying for Good. She wrote a book I could not put down with characters that I could not help caring about. I was invested in the story, the characters, and the outcome. I certainly recommend picking up your own copy.

*This book does contain scenes of domestic violence. * Staying for Good is the standalone second book in Catherine Bybee’s Most Likely To Series. This is a second chance love story focusing on Zoe Brown and Luke Miller. Zoe and Luke were high school sweethearts who came from opposites worlds. Luke has always been the pride and joy of his parents. His father owns the automotive repair shop in Red River and his mother takes care of the family. Zoe’s father was abusive and went to prison. Her mother worked several jobs and was barely able to take care of the family. Where Luke found comfort and security within his home, Zoe had to look elsewhere. She found safety with Gina, owner of the B&B who became like a second mother to her. She also found a motherly figure in Luke’s mother, who helped cultivate her cooking skills. But above everything else, she found true friendship with Melanie Bartlett, Jo Ward, and Luke Miller. Everyone assumed Zoe and Luke would get married and have a family of their own. That’s why Zoe was voted most likely to Never Leave Red River. But with Zoe’s abusive upbringing, she refused to have something bad happen to Luke and wake up one morning and find herself living like her mother, with three kids to take care of and living in a trailer that barely kept the cold out. This fear caused Zoe to bolt from Red River right after graduation and only make a handful of sporadic visits. All of this changes with their ten year high school reunion. Melanie returned, bringing unwanted drama with her. But she also met someone and fell in love. Now, Zoe finds herself returning often to help plan a wedding. She soon discovers that no matter how much she wanted to leave Red River behind, her heart always remained. Luke spent ten years trying to get over Zoe, but his heart refused to move on. When Zoe returned for the reunion and then kept returning, he knew he had to try to convince Zoe they deserved another chance. As the two start to get closer, Zoe finds herself in family drama. Luke reverts back to being her support system and knows there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her, even leave Red River. Get your tissues ready. Catherine Bybee has written a second chance love story of a love that's never gone away. Staying for Good is also a story of survival and overcoming your past. Of course, Catherine puts in a little suspense, which has you on the edge of your seat. Catherine Bybee is simply a master at what she does. I’m on pins and needles waiting for the third and final book in the series, Making it Right. The story is surely to answer some questions brought up in Doing it Over. **Received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed the book.**

I was so excited to return to River Bend to read Zoe's story and I loved every minute of it. A second chance romance with her high school boyfriend. Zoe left River Bend , more like escaped her dysfunctional family to never return. She has become a successful chef. She now returns home for Melanie's wedding when she rekindles her romance with Luke, her high school flame. Now she needs to decide to face her family or once again leave the love of her life. Great characters, that you will surely fall in love with. Kept me turning the pages. Can't wait to read Joe's story. Girl friends are the best. My favorite quote from the book, "Hard to move on with someone new when you're still in love with someone else."

Zoe and Luke are the peffect example of love that never forget. Zoe came from the wrong side of the tracks. Luke was from the perfect family...in her eyes anyways. Never did she expects to find live with anyone much less someone like him. And she needed to leave town after graduation. She works hard and finds her calling. Only keeping in touch with her best friends for life Mel and Jo. So when Mel needs her for her wedding shes back. Luke never got over Zoe. He understood why she had to leave but he never got o er her. And now that shes back for a while he takes his chance. They still have the explosive chemistry try have always had. Maybe they can make it work living in two states. He's willing and it seems she is too. Until her worst fears are realized and staying is almost impossible. she has to lean on her friends more than she ever has. But she has Luke too. Will she be able to get past her past and stay for good where her heart and home really is or will she run away again leaving heartbreak behind her?

This book is about Zoe a celebrity chef who left her hometown to get away from her very dysfunctional family and make something of herself. But by leaving town she also left her high school boyfriend Luke. They now are starting to run into each other due to mutual friends they have. Luke was devastated when Zoe left and never got over her, Zoe on the other hand was all about her career and not being the poor kid any longer. She had to leave in order to overcome her past. Her and Luke start out by feeling awkward with each other, then becoming friends and finally realizing they both still love each other. In the mean time you get to read about her and Luke's friends from the previous book in this series which was great. Also Zoe has to finally deal with her family in a way that really is out of her comfort zone. I look forward to the third book in this series.

Zoe and Luke were high school sweethearts. When she broke up with him and took off after high school, it was to get away from her wrong side of the tracks upbringing, and to pursue her dreams. And she moved on in a big way, becoming a celebrity chef, able to send money home to her mom. Luke stayed in River Bend, content to work at his dads shop, happy with the small town life. But after running into each other at their high school reunion, neither of them has been able to move on in quite the same way. When wedding planning picks up for their best friends, Mel and Wyatt, Luke decides its time to take a chance and see if there's still something there for Zoe too. But while Zoe and Luke are testing the waters, drama starts back up with Zoe's family. While she struggles with the drama unfolding with her family, Luke and he friends in River Bend keep a careful eye out on her childhood home, and provide a strong support system for Zoe when she needs one. The passion between Luke and Zoe is alive and kicking, and their shared history makes it easy for her to turn to him when she's hurting. Can she get over the damage done by her parents abusive past and learn to trust Luke completely? Catherine Bybee is an automatic must read for me, and Staying For Good does not disappoint. As always, this book is filled with the best kind of love and friendships. I can't wait for the third installment in the Most Likely to series!

I loved this book so much!!!! Zoe Brown was voted most likely to never leave River Bend but she blew out of town right after high school and made it big as a celebrity chef. The 10 year reunion in the first book of the series brought her back to town and stoked the flames of her high school love with Luke Miller who never left. When she left after the reunion Luke almost came unglued but now there is something bringing Zoe back to town. Will she stay? Will Luke follow her to Texas? These two make a seriously strong couple and the story surrounding them is spectacular. So many twists and turns and tears and laughs to satisfy. Bring on Jo's story and QUICK! **Received an ARC copy for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

4.5 Gripping Stars! Catherine Bybee is a new author to me. I read one of her books a couple months ago and was completely surprised and frankly, just blown away by how much I loved the book. When I got the opportunity to read another one from her, I had to read it. I say I was surprised because what I have learned is that she starts her stories out a bit slow. I go in thinking it's going to be one of those low key books that are good, but nothing too exciting. It's like a false since of security before she throws an event or a person in to the story line and I find myself asking where the heck did that come from and I'm sitting on the edge of my seat. Honestly, it makes the story more of a hit for me. I love it when an author surprises me. When I started this one, I thought maybe this one wouldn't be able to hold up to the last book I read...and then two things happened. First, this is a second chance romance so when Luke decided he was not letting Zoe go the second time, the story started to pick up. I was like, yes, now we are getting somewhere. Then Zoe's dad got out of prison and holy cow! I devoured the rest of the book. Nothing gets my heart pumping more than a bit of danger in a story. You know it's coming but there is so many directions that the author can take it. I was biting my nails waiting to see what her dad was gonna do because you KNOW it's coming. This book went from 0 to 60 and I enjoyed the ride. It's such a refreshing change for the plot twist to be drama not related to another woman or man trying to break up a couple. Instead you get a plot twist that brings these two closer. I loved it! This is a standalone but part of a three book series and while Zoe and Luke's story concludes, you get a huge teaser for the next book. And I mean huge! I had to immediately look up when the next book gets released. I CAN NOT WAIT! ARC provided by NetGalley.

As always from this author this is an amazing story with characters that will touch your heart from the very first page. This second installment in the Most Likely To series takes us back to River Bend where we meet Zoe Brown. Voted most likely never to leave in high school, Zoe was determined to prove everyone wrong. She did leave and did very well for herself - Thank you very much. She's back now though and facing everyone again is hard. Especially facing Luke. The one good thing that had been in her prior life and the only man who could get her to consider staying. Put this one on the must read list! I highly recommend it.
