None of the girls know who is stealing their stuff and Allie is relieved when sixth-grade ends and she can spend the summer riding horses with her riding instructor’s lovable foster children. Allie has her work cut out for her when “the most beautiful” (and mischievous) horse arrives at the farm and they learn the children may move to a new foster home.

During the summer break, Allie also meets Tobey who comes from a life different than her own upper-middle class life. The two girls discover each other’s deepest secrets and form a secret friendship. When school starts, Allie is once again pre-occupied with popularity and she is ashamed of Tobey’s “too-small” clothing. Tobey's surprising rise up the popularity ladder shoots past Allie's and even her crush becomes interested in joining the ‘Tobey Fan Club’. Allie struggles to learn about self-acceptance and true friendship.

Two of my short stories have been published by The University of Tampa’s Literary Journal The Quilt. My education includes a Master of Arts in English from The University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from The University of Tampa. I am a professional technical writer with a finalist submission for the Smithsonian Computerworld Award for Technology.

I have a passion for young adult fiction. I love children and I am a volunteer and mentor at The Children’s Home Society emergency shelter. I adore animals and spend many happy hours with my dogs, horse and husband.

    Highly Recommend

    In her well worked debut S.L. Seymour has written a book with wit and heart. An enjoyable read all the way. A read that won't disappoint.
