Steck-Vaughn is the only publishing company that has a partnership with the GED Testing Service. GEDTS publishes and prints the actual GED Exam. The book is extremely thorough and targets the exact skills, lessons and testing skills needed to pass the GED! Steck-Vaughn also offers GED satellite books, which separate each subject into it's own book. These texts provide more concentrated instruction per subject. I have found the satellite books very helpful!

We are using this book as our main tool for helping students study for their GED exams. Although the book looks intimidating when the student first sees it, it is actually several individual sections all put together to make up the larger book. Each section, or part of the GED, is made up of a couple of pages of instruction and examples, then a couple of pages of testing material.
The methodology is great, but a very useful part is the answers in the back of the book. They not only tells you what the correct answers are but why each of the wrong answers is wrong -- a great teaching tool in itself.
We have looked at other books, but overall have found this one to meet all the needs we have. Our students have found it to be a very useful aid in their goal to pass the GED exam.

I just recently passed the GED on my fist attempt without classes and totally self taught. I bought this book because it was the "Official GED" study guide. This is the biggest rip off I have ever come across. It does not teach you ANYTHING useful for the test. First of all I purchased 4 GED prep books total and this "official" book was the only one with severe errors. Do not waste your time buying this book. McGraw-Hill and Princeton Review have far better books that you actually learn from.

This book was a huge help. One person commented on here; Don't buy this book you will not learn anything. I personally would love to see someone use this book and not learn from it. The book is a great deal and does in fact teach you stuff and things. lol
