Steers & Stripes

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Tami Johansson
Anyone who's been longing for a good fix of some barn-burning Brooks & Dunn honky-tonk rave-ups need look no further than Steers & Stripes. The rompin', stompin' pace is breathtaking, with the 14 songs here steeped in the duo's signature hard-country brio of searing guitars and pounding drums. Ronnie Dunn sets the pace with an emotional vocal on the hard-charging opener, "Only in America." "The Last Thing I Do" burns with anticipation as Dunn sings about a truck-drivin' man who puts the pedal to the metal as he heads homeward, fueled by a high-octane case of lust for his gal. In a bit of a departure from the script, the duo offers up a swinging, Latin-tinged ...

In a bit of a departure from the script, the duo offers up a swinging, Latin-tinged love song, "My Heart Is Lost to You" and the most sarcastic Buck Owens homage this side of Dwight Yoakam on the loping, Bakersfield-styled "Lucky Me, Lonely You." Throw in a roiling, dramatic treatment of Kim Richey's beautiful "Every River," and you have the makings of another Brooks & Dunn dance hall behemoth.
All Music Guide - Maria Konicki Dinoia
Ronnie Dunn told Country Weekly magazine that "Country music is more diversified than ever, so you can really do more styles and different things." Lucky for Brooks & Dunn, who've obviously used the state of country music to their advantage, making album number nine something undoubtedly worth hearing. Or maybe it's the year they spent working on it. Whatever it is, Steers & Stripes is one of the finer albums from the eight-time winners of CMA's Vocal Duo of the Year. It seems to recapture everything likable about Brooks & Dunn that's been missing from the last few albums. The 14-track collection offers up a bevy of beauties from hardcore country to some penetrating rock. The slow, agonizing conviction in "The Long Goodbye," the Latin-flavored "My Heart Is Lost to You," the reassuring sentiment in "Unloved," and the rockabilly revelry of "See Jane Dance" are just a few tunes on this eminent song-packed album that really make a lasting impression.

    Gotta Love This Duo

When I bought this cd I could not stop listening to it. It's fantastic, and the vocals are just amazing. I love these guys.

    Buy it!

I bought Steers and Stripes a few weeks ago and I have listened to it over and over! It's one of the few CD's I have where I actually like all the songs. I listen to it almost every day and I know all the songs by heart. ''Only in America'' is a very patriotic song, especially good while our great nation is in such times.

    Great!

One of the best CDs I have ever owned. Steers and Stripes is a wonderful combination of traditional country and the twist Brooks and Dunn puts on all of their albums.

Brooks & Dunn are the best country singing duo ever. No matter what they do they're always the bomb.

Brooks & Dunn are the greatest.

I have only heard one song from this cd but it is great. Anything Brooks & Dunn do is great.

    Best B&D CD yet

This is the best Brooks and Dunn CD yet. I bought it 3 days ago and have been listening to it constantly. ''The Long Goodbye'' is an absolutely wonderful song, and I think has replaced ''Brand New Man'' as my favorite. Buy this one and you won't regret it!!
