Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Miranda McClain
Stegosaurus is a perennial favorite among dinosaur lovers and it is easy to see why when reading this book. They are gentle and slow, yet strong and fierce when forced to defend themselves. Dove's bright, colorful illustrations will entice even the youngest reader to learn all about this ancient creature. And there is much to learn. Readers will learn about Stegosaurus' amazing body armor, eating habits, where it lived, how it defended itself from ferocious predators, and how it cared for its young, as well as why they are not around today. Timelines and maps are used to help illustrate several of these points. The graphic novel format makes the book engaging even for the more reluctant reader, who may be intimidated by what might otherwise be a difficult read. A glossary in the back of the book helps with some of the more difficult vocabulary words and enthusiastic readers looking for more information are guided in the right direction.
