Children's Literature - RevaBeth Russell
This book belongs in classrooms whether the curriculum is social studies, debate or science. Because this subject is political as well as scientific this book is a primer for the voting public. The information is clear and unbiased. It addresses religious concerns as well as concerns of people with life-shortening diseases. It gives great background on the Tuskegee Study of syphilis and the hurried medical treatment of Jessie Gelsinger. The subject matter is not clear cut, black and white, right or wrong and the author presents each issue intelligently. Sidebar information enhances the book. There is a timeline of events illustrated at the back of the book along with critical dates. Essential facts are bulleted, both in favor and opposed. Key quotes are there as well as a lot of additional resources. This book will hone critical thinking skills and this is definitely a book I want my students to read. I think it should be available to all the voting public. Reviewer: RevaBeth Russell
