"[The protagonist's] determination as a dancer, her earnestness at discovering what is really important to her, and her honesty at confronting her own mistakes brings an authenticity to the story that teenagers will appreciate." — Booklist

Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
Saph's life just keeps getting better and better. She is the youngest professional dancer for the Magic Charms and has just received a valentine from her long-time crush, basketball star Damian Rowsthorne. But almost before all of Saph's dreams come true, they come crashing down when she learns that Damian did not send the valentine. Discovering who did, and then taking revenge against him, consumes Saph's life and endangers her position on the dance team. But with her friend Summer's help, and a little introspection, Saph manages to salvage her career as well as find a new crush. Kalkipsakis presents a steady story of a teenager in crisis trying to figure out how to navigate her feelings for a new guy and her position in life and potential future. While the text is well written, the characters are typical young people with very few redeeming qualities. They are attractive and popular and have very few problems to be solved. Any teenage girl looking for a quick romance to read will appreciate the text. Reviewer: Danielle Williams
