Not all little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice.

Poor little Madeline. She's lost her mother. Her father has married a new wife and now she has an evil new stepsister who delights in tormenting her. To top it off, she's moving into a big old house with her new stepmother and sister. The house looks haunted, its walls whisper to her, its shadows beckon to her.

If only Madeline could find a way to make the best of her situation. If only her mother was still alive. This would all be some sort of dream... or nightmare.
