It is rare to find an author with as much experience as Stern in a single subject as cruising. Thank goodness, however, since that is exactly how I have decided to spend the vacations of my future. I bought his book without expectations and was most pleasantly surprised to get the best guidance in every aspect: food, ship, stateroom, tours, etc. He has passed his extensive knowledge into this Guide and we are able to shortcut our hits and misses to all hits.  Wonderful and well crafted!!!

Of all the cruise guides on the market, this is the most informative. The addition of photos of the exterior and interior of the ships, as well as sample menus and programs and a clear rating system make this an excellent tool for selecting a ship. The sections on what to do in every port of call all over the world make this an indispensable guide for anyone taking a cruise.

EXCEPTIONAL, ACCURATE, PERCEPTIVE, EXPERIENCED, SPOT ON. Dr. Stern "gets it."  He thoroughly understand what tourists want and need.  I was fortunate to be aboard ship on a recent river cruise in France with him and his wife. They both participated in  all activities and I noted he wrote every day, so that all was fresh on his mind. The female point of view (in areas where that matters) was also included). Cautions, "heads up" are also included. Good  and to the point, written by a man who knows his business, not by a team or staff  sitting in an office somewhere. I shali mention no names.but I will say to Steve and his wife: "keep up the excellent work."

We have found this to be the number 1 cruise resource over the years. My family and I have gained information not available elsewhere in planning and booking at least 8 cruises. The many friends to whom we have recommended it have always been grateful we brought it to their attention. As a ship buff I enjoy browsing travel opportunities the book presents to add to my fantasy vacation list. His new guide to European River Boats offers many enticing trips too.

My husband and I are avid cruise vacationers and have found this book to be extraordinarily helpful. We have recommended it to many friends who have been amazed at the wealth of content and insider advice it offers. I think it's the only guide needed for selecting the right ship and itinerary.
