Simple Plan's 2002 debut followed in the undeniably successful footsteps of blink-182. But while No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls appropriated that trio's boundless energy and focus on melody, Simple Plan was sweet where blink was crass. "I'm Just a Kid," "The Worst Day Ever," "I'd Do Anything" -- their song titles could have doubled for after-school specials.

Overview

Simple Plan's 2002 debut followed in the undeniably successful footsteps of blink-182. But while No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls appropriated that trio's boundless energy and focus on melody, Simple Plan was sweet where blink was crass. "I'm Just a Kid," "The Worst Day Ever," "I'd Do Anything" -- their song titles could have doubled for after-school specials. The Plan's smiling approach to the punk-pop sound was wildly successful, and put them at the genre's top tier. But like their peers, 2004 finds them seeing its sonic limitations. Good Charlotte went for epic scope with their 2004 entry Chronicles of Life and Death, Sum 41's Chuck bared the band's newfound conscience over salvos derived from hardcore and metal, and Simple Plan's Still Not Getting Any... de-emphasizes punk-pop hyperactivity in favor of straightforward, well-crafted modern rock. "Do you ever feel out of place?" Pierre Bouvier sings in "Welcome to My Life," the album's first single. "Like somehow you don't belong/And no one understands you?" It returns to the band's central themes of growing up, getting by, and being part of something bigger. But the song's half-time arrangement and terrific chorus hook aren't too far from the slick, ringing pop of Avril Lavigne. "Thank You," "Jump," and "Promise" are of the energetic No Pads, No Helmets mold. But tracks like "Perfect World," "Everytime," and "Crazy" follow "Life"'s mid-tempo lead, and also tie Simple Plan's voice-of-the-kids stance to lyrics questioning the world around them. "The future is ours/It's in our hands," says the chorus of "One," and its big-guitar sound is matched to a fleet of surging violins. The shift to a more dynamically rich sound suits Simple Plan just fine. As Still Not Getting Any...'s title and rowdier moments prove, they can still bring the spunky crowd-pleasers. But it's the album's less raucous and more thoughtful side that shows Simple Plan's investment in the future. [Still Not Getting Any... was available in three different covers; it was also issued in a bonus-DVD format.]

Simple Plan is definatly my favorite band and I have loved them since the beginning. This album has shown me that they are getting more mature and they help teenagers feel as if they aren't alone in this world and that there are people who know what they are going through!

Still Not Getting any is a wonderful follow up to album to 'No pads, no helmets, just balls...'

This is deffinetly a great album. Simple Plan has certainly outdone themselves this time around. With songs like Crazy that relate more into everyday life or Welcome to My Life which is a really great song especially if you sometimes feel like you just can't take much more. And for my lovely simple plan, it seems that now you guys are getting more "good" reviews!!!

This album, SNGA is much more better than No Pads..No Helmets..Just Balls (which also a good stuff) Their songs are more about what's going on in the world today and many great messages maybe it's because they're more mature now.. which is something really good about this album. Although all of the songs are GREAT but my fav. is the 'Untitled' song. So, go and get this album, SNGA ..it has some video footage and photo gallery in the cd too!!!thanks...

The guys of Simple Plan have jokingly said that the title of their latest album could be used to describe their lack of good reviews. With the release of this album, however, surely that period will come to a close. 'Still Not Getting Any...' has an edge much different than that of 'No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls'. Their sound and lyrics have, yes, matured, but they have also taken their "celebrity status" and found a use for it. Songs like "Welcome To My Life" and the untitled track at the end of the album can be seen as songs sending the message that listeners are not alone in the things they are feeling. The song "Shut Up" is one saying that what others say about you shouldn't make up your entire opinion about yourself. You shouldn't allow yourself to be dragged down by these negative opinions. Overall, 'Still Not Getting Any...' was much better than Simple Plan's 'No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls' in that it speaks to those, like myself, who turn to music when they feel the world has turned its back on them. I would highly recommend this album to anyone, be they a fan of Simple Plan or not.

Simple Plan's sophomore album is just as great, if not better, then No Pads,No Helmets, Just Balls. With a more serious edge to it, Still Not Getting Any will rock your world.

I can't say that Simple Plan has changed much, but they have changed a little in a very good way. I love the way they are more real in this album. As opposed to their first album. They sound more like they do live on this album. I love it.

Yes, that's right...Simple Plan now has a new CD out and it already has gone #2 in Canada, #3 in the US and Japan! The songs are all great on the CD, which includes the big hits "Welcome To My Life" and "Shut Up"! I think everybody should buy this CD, because these guys are very inspirational and they never let their fans down. They helped me and I can really relate to most of their songs. They even have a couple of slow songs on this CD and their concerts are very awesome and you should go out and check out a show. Please go out and buy this and support our boys, Simple Plan! And check out the invasion crew! :)

Still Not Getting Any is WAY better than No Pads... this is the album to get. They may not be "punk" or whatever but they're definitely hitting it up. Me Against The World is one of the most guitar and drum oriented tracks on the album and it is FANTASTIC! Then they tone things down with a nice melody on the last track called: Untitled. Chuck says, "It's that good. We can't even think of a title." And he's right. It's just that good. It's my favorite song besides Crazy, which deals with what's going on in today's messed up or "crazy" world. Congratulations to Pierre, Chuck, Jeff, David, Sebastien, and even Pat(the web/merch guy) for putting this amazing record out for the fans to listen to. It's another album that'll help me get through another year, just like the last album. *signs off singing Grow Up and Shut Up*

Simple Plan's second album "Still Not Getting Any" is undeniably one of the best albums of the year. It is one of the few cd's that I own which I can pop in and listen to the whole thing straight through. SP will merit plenty of respect from the rock industry for this album. Congrats to Pierre, Chuck, Jeff, Seb, and David for the best album this year. And also thanks to Patrick for the rockin' DVD that come along with the CD. It is, as most of Pat's work, hilarious and insightful. It brings you into the studio with them band as they recorded "Still Not Getting Any".

The new simple plan album is one of the best albums to come out this fall and one of the best albums to come out THIS YEAR. The band has not only grown up as people but as musicans too. Simple plan has out-done themselves this time. With amazing songs like "shut up" "jump" "crazy" "me agianst the world" and every other song on the album. Once agian simple plan wrote exceptional songs and performed them in the most amazing way possiable. if you dont buy this album you will be missing out on one of the best things you will ever hear in your lifetime. This record should be getting MORE than just FIVE meesly stars.

I totally luved the SP cd!! I think that so far its the best of the two they've done. I can connect with everything that they say, like they know what we go through everyday.

Simple Plan stepped it up a knotch. they once again hit the nerve of teen angst and helped teenagers feel as though theyre not alone. deeper lyrics than NO Pads.... and definetly better instrumentals this cd catches you and you just want more. at times you want to cry and times you want to "Jump" and its all in 38 minutes

This CD is and has been my favorite CD ever since the day I got it, the first day it came out. It has a variety of different songs and they're easy to relate too for most teenagers, some songs more than others. The songs are a lot different that the last CD, they're not just pure punk/pop.. They're a little bit of a mix of different types of music too. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS CD!!
