Overview

The world is quite different from what it was prior to September 11th and the threat of a future terrorist attack is real. Fear, surprise, and havoc are the terrorists' main weapons. Still The Target is a counter-weapon. The first line of defense is a heightened awareness and this book offers practical strategies that corporations, governments, and private individuals can put into play to protect themselves from acts of terrorism. The vivid case studies, the research findings, and the authors' past CIA experience are woven together to bring into focus the evil patterns of thinking that lie behind the violence of hi-jackings, kidnappings, and assassinations. Still The Target will provide readers with the most current information available today.

In this no-nonsense, pull-no-punches guide to coping with terror and crime, the authors take a hard look at issues concerning the protection of high level individuals forced to travel in harm's way. The practical advice and thorough research reflect their years of experience in the field. Case scenarios of actual assassination attempts, kidnappings, and other criminal acts bring the book to life and support the methods and techniques throughout its pages.

Still the Target presents the most current information and strategies available in the ever changing worlds of terrorism and crime. It is a welcome follow up to Mr. Shackley's The Third Option, an examination of the theory and practice of counterinsurgency and guerrilla warfare, and his 1989 treatment of the subject in You're the Target. Whether you are a traveling V.I.P., an executive protection specialist, or a concerned citizen of the world, thereis much to be found of interest in this provocative and timely exploration of issues that ultimately affect society and our way of life.
