#1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sandra Brown jolts the reader from the first page of this heart-pounding story of corruption, treachery, and ceaseless deception . . . where nothing is what it seems and every truth brought to light exposes a darker lie.

When Jordie Bennet and Shaw Kinnard lock eyes across a disreputable backwater bar, something definitely sparks. Shaw gives off a dangerous vibe that makes men wary and inspires women to sit up and take notice. None feel that undercurrent more strongly than savvy businesswoman Jordie, who doesn't belong in a seedy dive on the banks of a bayou. But here she is . . . and Shaw Kinnard is here to kill her.

As Shaw and his partner take aim, Jordie is certain her time has come. But Shaw has other plans and abducts Jordie, hoping to get his hands on the $30 million her brother has stolen and, presumably, hidden. However, Shaw is not the only one looking for the fortune. Her brother's ruthless boss and the FBI are after it as well. Now on the run from the feds and a notorious criminal, Jordie and Shaw must rely on their wits-and each other-to stay alive.

Miles away from civilization and surrounded by swampland, the two play each other against their common enemies. Jordie's only chance of survival is to outwit Shaw, but it soon becomes clear to Shaw that Jordie isn't entirely trustworthy, either. Was she in on her brother's scam, or is she an innocent pawn in a deadly vendetta? And just how valuable is her life to Shaw, her remorseless and manipulative captor? Burning for answers-and for each other-this unlikely pair ultimately make a desperate move that could be their last.

With nonstop plot twists and the tantalizing sexual tension that has made Sandra Brown one of the world's best-loved authors, STING will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the final pages.

This exceptional romantic thriller from bestseller Brown (Friction) pairs Shaw Kinnard, a handsome hired killer, and his beautiful target, Jordie Bennett, the owner of a New Orleans event-planning business, in a spirited contest of wills and wiles. Rather than kill Jordie, Shaw kidnaps her from a bar in the boondocks of Louisiana, hoping for a bigger slice of money. Jordie’s crooked brother, Josh Bennett, helped his boss, Billy Panella, defraud investors of some $30 million, and Jordie may be the key for Shaw to get a share of the loot. No one knows the whereabouts of Billy—or Josh since he escaped from federal protective custody. Brown doesn’t neglect other key figures, such as the two FBI agents searching for Billy and Josh, but the principal focus never strays far from the sexual tension between Shaw and Jordie: her aim to stay alive and his to squeeze from her the information he needs. Brown handles the romance with her usual panache and adds some nifty plot twists that will keep readers guessing. Agent: Maria Carvainis, Maria Carvainis Agency. (Aug.)

When Shaw Kinnard encounters the incongruously elegant Jordie Bennet in a seen-better-days bayou bar, it's not love at first sight. He's there to kill her. Instead, he abducts her, eager to get hold of the $30 million her brother has pocketed from his badly bent boss. Now they are on the run from said boss—and the FBI. Brown's last title, 2015's Friction, debuted at the top of the New York Times best sellers list, which explains the 400,000-copy first printing.
Kirkus Reviews
A rock-jawed bad guy and a sexy entrepreneur feel the mutual heat in Brown’s latest story of a damsel in distress and her tarnished knight.Jordie Bennett is having a bad night. One minute, the gorgeous woman sits nursing a drink in a run-down Louisiana bar, and the next, she’s been kidnapped by a murderous hit man. The hit man in question, Shaw Kinnard, shoots his partner, fellow killer for hire Mickey Bolden, before Bolden has a chance to kill Jordie, then abducts her and drives around and finally holes up with her still a hostage. Her abduction isn’t random, though. Seems Jordie’s brother, Josh, worked for a famous criminal named Billy Panella. Panella is at the top of law enforcement’s fugitive list after he swindled millions out of their nest eggs, like a more modest Bernie Madoff. Now, Shaw’s in a race to find Josh—an escaped federal witness—before the FBI or Panella can beat him to it. And everyone, including FBI agents Wiley and Hickam, who are hot on Josh's trail, believes that his sister, Jordie, holds the key. Although Brown is an excellent and almost effortless writer, over the years her plots have devolved into paint-by-numbers efforts: a hunky, distant bad boy ends up in reluctant contact with a beautiful-beyond-belief woman in peril. The chemistry is undeniable, and much heat ensues. The woman struggles with the bad boy’s past while the bad boy struggles with his feelings for the beautiful lady. Readers won’t have to be prescient to figure out what happens in this typical entry into the Brown playbook because the outcome is as predictable as the humidity and mosquitoes that plague the Louisiana bayous in the summertime. Brown moves her besieged female characters around to different locations but persists in employing the same tired trope over and over in books saved only by her smooth writing and savvy dialogue chops.

Meh.. Not my favorite Sandra Brown novel but the ending was pretty epic to say the least but I'm not sure if I fully understand the logic but who's counting anyway. Worth the buy. Fast read.

Does Ms Brown have any idea how abdominable surgery feels? Super stud Shaw is a joke as well as the predictably contrived sexual episodes. The story line was good , but not the execution ( no pun intended)

Over the years there have been a couple of authors that I have had to walk away from. Their stories started to sound the same and the attention draw just wasn't there anymore. Sandra Brown is not one of those authors. I have been reading her stories since high school and they just keep getting better. Sting is the latest in what I hope are a long line of amazing stories from this authors. This book is an action packed ride that will have you guessing and gripping your armrest right until the end. Jordie Bennet first of all not being your typical victim. From the moment she becomes conscious after her abduction, she uses her wits and strength to try and figure out a way to escape. Never ignoring her doubts, but instead pushing them aside in hopes that she survives this ordeal. Kinnard is also a very strong character. From the minute we are introduced to him, you can feel the Alpha attitude flowing off of him. He holds a confidence and swagger that most men couldn't fake if they try. Sting follows these two through the ordeal of Jordie's abduction and the price that's been put on her head. Making the reader want more, until they are in awe at the conclusion. A definite must read.

I loved this book...just couldn't put it down. I wanted to know if Shaw was as bad a guy as he appeared or something else altogether. Some of it was hard to believe (but hey, it's a book, it's supposed to be entertaining, right?). Lots of twists and turns. As always, I love Sandra's books and can't wait for the next one.

I was recommended to read "Balboa and the Cyborg," a science fiction romance, but found Sandra Brown's book by mistake. I'm glad I did. Now back to B. Sting's ebook.

OK story, doesn't hold up in some places, but it's not bad. I did skip the too explicit sex, unnecessary to the story.
